GREENFIELD - Marilyn F. (Loveland) Kells, 82, formerly of 167 Silver St. and a resident of the Poet's Seat Health Care Center, 359 High St., died Friday evening, May 10, 2013, at the nursing facility in the care and presence of family members, following a period of declining health.
She was born in Greenfield on Feb. 1, 1931 to Elsie (Chase) and Kenneth Loveland. Marilyn attended local public schools and worked for several years as an operator with the former New England Telephone and Telegraph, later known as NYNEX, retiring in 1985.
Marilyn enjoyed crosswords, reading, listening to music, golfing and spending time with her family and many friends including ""the girls"". She will be remembered for her generosity, sense of humor and her delicious Toll House chocolate chip cookies,
She was married to Bernard R. Kells, Sr., on Sept. 30, 1948 in the First Methodist Church in Greenfield. They celebrated 56 years of marriage together, prior to his passing in October of 2004.
Marilyn is lovingly remembered by her four children: Bernie R. ""Rusty"" Kells, Jr. of Greenfield, Diann M. Podlesny of Greenfield, Tracey Tate of Bartlesville, OK, and Kathy Litskoski and her husband Rich of South Deerfield. Additionally, she leaves her adored grandchildren: Kristie DeMarco and her husband Bill, Frank Podlesny and his wife Stephanie, Nicholas Podlesny, Donnie Tate and his wife Christy, Nathan Tate and his wife Shelly, Janna Driskel and her husband Michael and Benjamin Litskoski, as well as 13 great- grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also survived by her niece, Sharon Clark of Wooster, OH, who was like another daughter.
She was pre-deceased by her three sisters: Muriel Grant, June Dye and Madeline Lindahl, as well as her son-in-law, Henry ""Butch"" Podlesny.
In keeping with Marilyn's request for privacy and simplicity, formal services and visiting hours are omitted. Inurnment following cremation will be private in the St. Anne's Cemetery, Turners Falls.
