Peter Majewski Obituary

HATFIELD - Peter A. Majewski Jr., 71, died on May 4, 2018 in the loving arms of his wife of 49 years, MaryAnn. Peter was born to Peter and Jennie (Furtek) Majewski on December 25, 1946 in Northampton, MA. He went to Hatfield schools but graduated in 1964 from Smith Vocational High School with a focus in automotive. Here, he was class valedictorian, a ROTC commander, and played on the 1964 championship basketball team. Training at Smith Vocational, launched Peter into his career in auto parts. He managed and started up several auto parts stores in Western MA including Munson Auto Parts, a Texaco Garage, Plumb, Campus, and Hapco Auto Parts. In 1983, Peter started his 2nd career of 31 years, in aeronautics, when he began working at Bombardier Aerospace. Peter worked as a parts manager before retiring in 2014.
After living in Springfield for their first year of marriage, and expecting their daughter Kimberly, Peter wanted his daughter to enjoy a life in the country and moved back to Hatfield in 1970 where he and MaryAnn purchased their house and had their daughter on the same day. He loved taking Sunday drives and traveling with his wife, including going to Italy, Greece, Bermuda and Alaska. Peter took great joy in having attended Nascar races, Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500, where he also said "Hello" to Ernest Borgnine. Peter was able to speed down the race track himself at Rockingham Speedway's Buck Baker Driving School. He was a long-time member of the Hatfield Fish and Game club and Hatfield's Pitch League. Anyone who knew Peter saw many pictures and heard stories of the hobbies and accomplishments in which he took pride, including classic cars, his dog, Pitou, his gardens, the 1953 Corvette he dreamed of building and the sunroom he built.

Peter is pre-deceased by his parents, Peter A. and Jennie Majewski, and his brother John Majewski. He leaves his wife, MaryAnn (Mathias) Majewski of Hatfield, MA; his daughter, Kimberly Ann Majewski and her fiancé, Timothy Ritter, of Easthampton, MA; his sister, Sally Jean Majewski of Hatfield, MA, and several in-laws, nephews and cousins. Services will be Thursday May 10, 2018 at Czelusniak Funeral Home, Northampton, MA with calling hours at 10:00 am and an In-House Service at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family wants to thank Isaac and Darnell, who Peter called "his boys" at Linda Manor and the staff at Cooley Dickenson Hospital for providing him compassionate care. A special thank you to his long-time friend Wally Smolenski who would perk up his days by taking him for rides in his classic car.
