Phyllis Valerie (Hall) Tolman

Frisco, TX - Phyllis Valerie (Hall) Tolman, 89, of Frisco, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 3. Born on August 4, 1935, in Orange, Mass., Phyllis was the 2nd oldest daughter of Malcolm and Pearl Hall, and sister to Betty, Charlotte, Linda, Wanda, and Brenda, the "The Hall Girls."

Phyllis grew up in Orange and played the piano and the bass clarinet. She graduated from Orange High School where she played in her father's school band and sang in his musical shows. She also played in the All State Band. She was a waitress at Batch's Dairy Bar where she met her future husband.

On June 6, 1954 Phyllis married Arthur Tolman, and they settled in Orange. Arthur introduced her to Ballroom Dancing and they started teaching lessons in Western Mass., Vermont, and New Hampshire. They were excellent dancers and were members of the Dance Teachers Club of Boston and Dance Masters of America. They created a party dance named "The Parachute Jump" which they performed at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, at the Ball of the Year. In the 1960's they taught summers at the Wychmere Harbor Club. They taught and performed in New England for 28 years and then in Port Charlotte, Florida for another 22 years. While in Florida they also taught at The Cloister and on cruise ships. After retiring, they moved to Tennessee and Texas to be near their daughters. Phyllis loved dancing, gardening, baking, home decorating, and especially putting on big parties.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Arthur, son Dana, and daughters April Kearney (Kris), and Tracy Uebelacker (Bob). as well as her grandchildren, Kristopher Kearney Jr (Amy), Kaitlyn Ballbe (Claude), Alycia Kearney, Robert Uebelacker (Holly), and Kevin Uebelacker. great grandchildren Elizabeth Kearney, Ruby Ballbe, and Noel Uebelacker.

The funeral is Friday, July 18 at first Frisco Global Methodist Church, at 1 pm. Graveside services will be in Orange, to be announced at a later date.
