Rena Susanne Kant Finch born in Tubingen, Germany in 1928 passed away September 13, 2021 at Vernon Homes, Vernon, VT at the age of 92. She came to the US in 1938 with her parents, Dr. Otto & Dr. Bertha Kant and brother Michael. She graduated from Clark University in 1950 and married Edwin Finch in 1951, whom she met while working at the Northfield Inn. They lived in Boston, MA after marrying, where she worked in libraries in Cambridge & Arlington until 1954 when she and Ed moved to NY state. They came to Northfield in 1956 and made it their home. Rena became a teacher and taught 1st through 3rd grade in Leyden, MA for 13 years. She then left teaching to run the Northfield Country Store with husband Ed until their retirement. She became a member of the Northfield Trinitarian Congregational Church in 1957 and served on many boards there throughout the years. She was on the board for the Dickinson Memorial Library "Friends of the Library" for over 30 years and was a volunteer on the Northfield Newsletter for 20 years. In 2019 they moved to Vernon Vermont to reside at Vernon Homes.

She is survived by her husband Edwin Willis Finch; her half- sister Terry Kant; half-brother Douglas Kant; her son Michael Scott Finch and his wife Lauri Hittner Finch; daughter Melinda Stone and her husband Timothy Stone; daughter Jennifer Finch Piescik; her grandchildren, Lindsay Kendrick Finch, Patrick Stone, Haleigh Finch Dittbenner, Devin Stone, Seth R. Piescik, Zachary E. Piescik; and her great-grandchildren, Presley and Reese.

She loved biking and cross-country skiing, especially the trips to Craftsbury, VT with friends. She was often found gardendening and loved playing MahJongg with friends. She was also an avid reader. She loved being at the beach, hiking in the woods or playing games with her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers please consider a monetary donation given in Rena's name to Friends of the Library, Dickinson Memorial Library, 115 Main Street, Northfield, MA 01360 or to Vernon Homes for all their dedication and care. Mail to Vernon Hall, 13 Greenway Dr., Vernon, VT 05354. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I'm so sorry to see that Rena has passed ... used to play mahjongg with her n friends - really enjoyed her company. I still have a beautiful african violet she gave me many years ago. My deepest sympathy to Ed and the family.
