Rhonda L. (Parker) Thompson

SHELBURNE, MA — Rhonda Lee (Parker) Thompson, 45, died suddenly on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in a tragic accident involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle. She was born in Greenfield on August 19, 1975, the daughter of Betty (Purington) Johnson and Ronnie C. Parker. Rhonda attended Colrain Central School and was a 1993 graduate of Mohawk Trail Regional High School. She graduated from the GCC nursing program, and was Director of Nursing at the Farren Care Center in Montague at the time of its closing. Rhonda was extremely proud professionally of the fact that the Farren stayed COVID-free throughout the pandemic.

Rhonda Parker married Mark C. Thompson on September 4, 1999. Along with Mark and their much-loved daughter, Ella, Rhonda looked forward each year to decorating their home for Christmas. Her hobbies included sewing and crafting, baking, gardening, biking, and traveling. Some of her favorite vacations were spent cruising with Mark and Ella. She loved paddle-boarding with the family dog, Oliver. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a kind and devoted friend.

Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Mark, and 13-year-old daughter, Ella; her mother and stepfather Betty and Kerry "Pete" Johnson of Colrain, her father Ronnie Parker of Ashfield, her paternal grandfather Floyd Parker of Buckland, and her in-laws David and Sofia Thompson of Turners Falls. Rhonda also leaves her siblings and their spouses: Jennifer Parker and Taylor Downing of Bennington, VT, Cassandra and Patrick McCann of Belchertown, Corey and Jennifer Johnson of Auburn, Derek Parker of Venice, FL, and Shauntel Parker of Ashfield. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by both maternal grandparents Edward and Evelyn Purington, paternal grandmother Lurena Parker, an uncle Larry Parker and a brother Joshua Parker.

There will be no services at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, 104 Bridge Street, Shelburne Falls, MA. Contributions may be made to a fund established for Ella. Donations can be made to Mark C. Thompson FBO Ella G. Thompson at the Greenfield Savings Bank, 58 Bridge Street, Shelburne Falls, MA 01370.
