Richard Vincent Obituary

Richard Joseph Vincent

Greenfield, MA - Richard (Papa) Joseph Vincent passed away peacefully at the young age of 93 on September 25th, 2024 with his two daughters, Marcia and Pam by his side.

Papa, as he was lovingly called by all his grandchildren, was born on February 24th, 1931 in Conway MA. He was raised by his "Gramma" Munson in his younger years. When Papa was of age, he joined the Navy in 1949 and served on The USS Elokomin, then joined the Navy Reserves and served until 1956. He met the love of his life, Margaret, at a local dance during this time and said it was love at first sight. They married on January 29th, 1955 at the Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield MA. While Papa worked in a few different fields of work, he was most known for his many years at Warner Brothers Trucking.

Papa was a meticulous man when it came to three things, his lawn, his garden, and his truck. You would find him riding on a John Deere tractor mowing his lawn weekly, tending to his vegetables daily, and hand washing and turtle waxing his Chevy truck in the driveway often. If you ever stopped by during the summer, you were bound to leave with a few tomatoes and cucumbers freshly picked from his garden. He loved his tomato and cucumber sandwiches.

Papa made the best pickled kielbasa, eggs, and the traditional pickled cucumbers grown right from his garden. He enjoyed hunting and fishing well into his later years and shared this passion with his children and grandchildren. Papa loved to camp with his family and shared his love of exploring the beach. He hosted many pig roasts for his friends and family at his home. Whenever there was music playing, you could find Papa showing off his dance moves with his wife.

Papa was a proud member of the Moose Club in Greenfield MA where he would have his weekly beer at the bar while dropping off his pickled goods. He was a heck of a card player winning several poker tournaments and hosting many card game nights with his friends.

Papa was well loved by his friends and family and will forever be remembered as a hard working man, proud veteran, caring friend, loving father, our best bud, and the silliest rose cheeked man to ever exist.

Richard was predeceased by his mother, Grace (Weston) Vincent, father William Vincent, his brothers Larry Vincent, William Vincent, Michael Vincent, his sister Catherine Vincent, and his loving wife of 69 years Margaret Ann Vincent, who recently passed in February of 2024.

He leaves behind his two sisters, Bobby Joe and Joyce Hepburn and his brother Mark Vincent, his four children, Marcia L Vincent, Pamela J Vigneault (Bruce), Richard "Dean" Vincent, and Vicki Ann Vincent. His eight grandchildren, Margaret Corey (Casey), Eve Mills, Ryan Vigneault (Stephanie), Jeffrey Vigneault (Emily), Richard

Vincent (Cortney), Amanda Vincent, Chastity Vincent, and Nicholas Vincent. His seven great grandchildren, Alexis Lambert (Ryan), Abigail Corey, Sadie Corey, Lianna Bolanos, Colson Vincent, Griffin Vigneault, and Henry Vigneault, and his three great great granddaughters Addison, Everleigh, and Olivia Lambert.

A private gathering will be held in the spring for Richard and Margaret.

Uncle Dick was the best Uncle ever. He was in the US Navy and we shared that experience. We hunted and went to fairs together. I loved help Uncle Dick around his property. He was a loving and forgiving soul. I will truly miss him all of my life!
