Thomas Sanborn Obituary
Leverett, MA - Thomas L. Sanborn, 77, of Old Long Road, passed away Saturday February 15, 2025, at Elaine Center at Hadley. He was born in Greenfield on August 15, 1947, the son of Lowell and Lena (Degrano) Sanborn. Thomas attended local schools and graduated from Frontier High School. He also had a bachelor's degree and graduated from Greenfield Community College in business and marketing.
He was a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam. Thomas enjoyed bird watching, reading the Bible, shopping, listening to music, hanging out with friends and family. Besides being an avid gardener, he was a mentor to many.
He was a member of the Maple Ridge Church in Sunderland.
He leaves his son CJ Valdez of Leverett and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Carol Zewinski.
Services will be held Wednesday February 26, 2025, at 11 AM at Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Sq., Turners Falls. Burial will follow in Bridge St. Cemetery, 156 Bridge St. Northampton, MA 01060.
A calling hour will be from 10 AM until service time at 11 AM.

May I offer my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the family of Tom. Where do I begin to describe my relationship with Tommy over the years. He was a renaissance man . Whether it was is his knowledge of acoustics and sound systems ( only the best Macintosh amps , turntables or speakers would do) or building the first bar in his house using weathered barn boards he was impressive. We shared many nights in that bar with his father , Toby or his brother John . We shared our experiences in the service , Tommy in Vietnam , myself in Korea. We were both Leo´s born on the same day , August 15. Tommy would always call or text me on our birthdays . We would commiserate with each other on our aches and pains .
Years and years ago Tommy accepted two cats , my partner Barbara Bennett ( also a classmate ) decided to part with.
One was a Siamese named Bling. I think the other was named Sassy. They were a handful but Tommy loved them.
Regretfully I will be unable to attend the services for Tommy since I reside in Florida for the winter .
Thomas was my friend , classmate and soulmate . He will be by Gods side for all eternity.
May he rest in peace.
