Walter Boyd Obituary
Colrain, MA - Walt Boyd, of Colrain, MA, passed away peacefully at home on April 8, 2025 after a brief period of declining health.
Walt was born to James and Margaret Boyd on April 3, 1947. He leaves behind a very proud and loving family. His wife of 44 years Loralyn, son Josh (Mariah) of Colrain, daughter Claire Betit of Jacksonville, VT, sister June Kimberly of Colrain, close friend and frequent garage companion Bill Lemieux of Jacksonville, VT. He also leaves grandchildren Justin Boyd (Heather), Stephanie Nardowicz (Kyle), Sarah Soos (Cody), Kaili Lynch, Brayden Boyd and 7 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son Corey in 2018.
Walt was well known throughout the region, for over 5 decades as a brilliant welder/fabricator, diesel and auto mechanic and equipment repairman. He was a master of Yankee Ingenuity.
Walt spent his entire life "on the hill" in Colrain where he eventually built a garage to run his repair business. He was previously employed for many years by the Colrain Highway Dept. and later Warner Bros. Tru Corp.
Walt endured several years of severe chronic pain due to deteriorating spine and arthritis, however, his stubbornness kept him working in his shop and helping his friends and neighbors.
His family and friends were often on the receiving end of his dry humor and wit, as he enjoyed joking and the occasional prank.
A celebration for Walt will be held at the Shelburne Falls Eagles April 27, from 1-4pm.
