Edward Knott Obituary

Charles Edward Ed Knott

Charles Edward "Ed" Knott was born on November 26, 1948, to Roy and Catherine Knott. God called Ed home on December 16, 2022.

As the second oldest of ten kids, Ed grew up in the Lindsay, Strathmore and Pixley areas, and would make his home in Porterville.

On February 16, 1974, Ed would marry the woman he loved and would spend the rest of his life with, Sandy Scheer. They would spend the next almost 49 years together, never far apart. Together they would raise and nurture their family, facing whatever obstacles life brought their way.

Ed exemplified himself as a hard worker, lending his trade to several occupations over his career. From dryland farming to citrus farming, from driving tractor and disc to running a road grader, Ed gave everything to the job.

But Ed loved nothing more, than being a cowboy. He worked on feed lots where he got to do what he loved... riding horses and roping. Ed would attend roping's and rodeos when he could, and he loved going to Las Vegas for the NFR. Watching old western movies was a staple at Ed's house.

In 2007, at the age of 58, Ed would undergo surgery for a genetic back problem, a surgery that literally changed Ed's life. He would now be unable work, or be able to continue doing what he loved, but he never complained. Several health issue would begin to plague Ed, and he would have to slow down considerably.

Ed was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Lindsay, being baptized into God's Grace. Ed placed his faith in God, and never wavered from that.

Ed is survived by his wife Sandy, daughter Brandi Lynn McElhaney (Mike) of Porterville, son Dustin Edward Knott of Rancho Cordova, CA, Granddaughters Emily Searcy of Rancho Cordova, CA and Abigail Smith of Porterville, and Grandson Blake Smith of Lubbock, TX. These grandkids were Ed's world!

Ed is also survived by his sisters Rosemary Stone and Debbie Ortega, sister-in-law Dee Knott (Ron), and brothers Everett, Woody, Andy, Billy, Roy, and John. And his namesake, Uncle Charles Dunn.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Catherine his brother Ronnie, his grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.

Service will be held at Meyer's Chapel on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 10:00am. Internment will immediately follow and then a luncheon at the Porterville Veterans Memorial Building.
