James Rauber Obituary

James(Jim) Sheldon Rauber

James (Jim) Sheldon Rauber, a beloved friend to many, peacefully passed away at his home in Oxnard, CA, on February 29, 2024. Born and raised in Porterville, James attended Porterville High School, graduating in the class of 1970, before pursuing studies in Literary and Artistic Criticism at Loyola Marymount University, where he graduated in the class of 1974. On April 5, 1975, he married Margaret Kinzer. James dedicated 26 years of service to Chicago Title Insurance, reaching the pinnacle of his career as Tulare County Escrow Manager. However, his most cherished role was as a grandfather. He found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren, relishing his role as their Papa.

James is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Melissa, his father Francis (Bud) Rauber, and his mother Melba Rauber. James is survived by his wife Margaret, son Eric, daughter-in-law Melody, granddaughter Claire, grandson James (his namesake), his brother David, sister-in-law Kathleen, their children, Christopher and Patrick Rauber, their wives, and their children. James will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Funeral arrangements have been scheduled for March 18, 2024, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Porterville at 11 am.

Hey Margaret Travis Cline here. Jim was a great guy. I´m sorry for your loss. Eric, you must be all grown now; but I´ll always remember launching you into your pool in the summer of `93. Good blessings to you all.

Jim was the best example of a kind and generous man. We were childhood friends since before starting kindergarten, both living in the same neighborhood. I still have so many good memories from high school days working on the Orange and Green, and playing our instruments in the Panther band. I was lucky enough to get to know Margaret and his family when they returned to Porterville where Margaret and I taught next door to each other. Jim will be missed.

Grieving with you, Margaret, David & family. I was a classmate of Jim´s at PHS class of 70 & saw him from afar at the last class reunion but didn´t have a chance to chat. He was such a gentleman & kind soul. May you find comfort in your memories. ~ Rosemary Garcia Gifford

Jim, you and your family are such a big part of my memories living and growing up in Porterville. Not only were your folks my folks dear friends, but we were neighbors on Belleview.
So glad we kept in touch as we both grew up and moved away from Porterville.
My condolences to Dave and family, and to Jim´s wife and family. Rest in Peace.
Sincerely, The Schortman Family.

Jim was one of the kindest people and always greeted everyone with a smile. He took our wedding photos in 1993 and I will forever treasure them. He also worked with my mom at Letsinger Realty when she first started as their secretary when I was 6 years old. I am truly sorry for your loss and pray for God's peace and strength for each of you.
