Joseph "Joe" P. Onsurez devoted husband and father passed to eternal life on May 21, 2024 at the age of 92.

He was born on the family ranch in Loving, New Mexico, and is preceded by his mother Concepcion, father Guadalupe, two brothers and four sisters.

Joe was a resident of Porterville for 32 years also residing in Grover Beach, Vacaville, El Monte, & Tulare.

Joe served in the Korean War as a corporal in the Army Corp of Engineers and as Military Police (MP).

He will be remembered as the original owner of "Joe's Westside Market," and "Rick & Steve's 50's Diner," which he ran for 24 years along with his wife and sons. Joe loved working behind the counter greeting his customers and counted many of his regulars as personal friends.

His positive attitude, tremendous work ethic, and determination were an inspiration and example to his family. Joe loved life! He especially loved music, dancing, food, and horses. Most of all he loved his family and was especially proud that despite his own humble beginnings he was able to witness all nine of his grandchildren graduate from college.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of almost 68 years Amelia, his children Susan, Rick, Steve, and Becky. Grandchildren-Tim, Ron, Meghan, Erica, Katie, Ryan, Alyssa, Brianna, and Christian, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be held at Holy Cross Church, Porterville on 6/3/24 at 11:00 am.
