Ralph Hernandez Obituary
He was born in 1932 in the state of Texas where he met and married his wife of 60 years Blasita. They started a family before moving to California to live out the rest of his life. Ralph worked for 30 plus years as a maintenance mechanic for Lindsay Olive Growers until retiring.
He was hard working, always active, enjoyed socializing with neighbors and friends. He loved spending time with his large family including many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved fishing, camping and playing Texas Hold'em at the Casino. A man of God and high character, known for his kindness and generosity and always putting his family and friends first.
His legacy will live on through his family: Sons; Ruben Hernandez & wife Carol, Robert Hernandez, Leo Hernandez & wife Wendy, Daughters; Linda Ontiveros, Dolly Balangue & husband Willy, Grandchildren; Benny Balangue wife Stephanie, Amanda Balangue, Freddy, Jacob and Jason Ontiveros, Robert Hernandez, Jr. & wife Amy, Shianne and Sabrina Hernandez, Ralph Hernandez III & wife Stephany, Joseph and Micheal Hernandez and Amber Veselka, great grandchildren: Alexandria, Clarice, Sergio, Nadia, Emma, Alecia, Elijah, Jaydene and his beloved Dog "Harvey".
He was preceded in death by his son Ralph Hernandez Jr.
Visitation & Rosary : Myers Chapel on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM; Mass of Christian Burial: St. Annes Church on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 9:00 AM. Celebration of Life will follow immediately after Mass at Mission Bell Mobile Park Rec Hall, located at 1343 W. Morton, Porterville.

My dear grandfather, you were such a good man. Just delightful to be around. Oh how I miss the fishing at the lake and driving your house boat as a kid. You were so patient and kind and funny. Jojo reminds me of you in so many ways. His smile, and personality like you. Thank you for a fine example of a true gentleman. I know how to raise him. My girls you adored and the same to you. You would just come visit to bring treats for the kids and always gave me a $10 bill. I wish I would´ve saved them. Beautiful memories is what you left behind. Thank you grandpa! I love you.

Saturday we would have been celebrating your 83rd birthday with all the family as we always did. Good food and good times, I'm sure you'd be saying it was your 25th birthday like you always joked. I miss you and your humor soo much Dad. I miss you telling me you were going to pick me up at 6am tomorrow morning so we can go fishing. I dream about you a lot now, and that's all I have now that you're gone. You were so great to me and helped me so much when I needed you. I will always be grateful and I wish I had told you more often. I wish I could have talked to you more before you left us, I just couldn't believe you would go so fast and now that you're gone there are so many things I wish I could have told you and talked to you about. I honor you with every breath I take, testimony to what a wonderful father you were to me.

It's been two years and I miss you more than ever Dad. I wish we could hang out together and talk about aliens or bigfoot like we used to or go fishing on the houseboat. Daddy, you have been gone for over a month, I am missing you so much and my heart is broken with grief for you. I so miss your weekly Sunday morning visits, just to see you so happy and always smiling and enjoying life. Your loving ways and genuine love for your grandkids and great grandkids. There are no words to describe how incredibly blessed I was to have you for my grandfather. I never knew the time would come so soon for you grandpa. I am grateful that I had an amazing grandpa that taught me how to fish, ride a bike, set up a tent, and play poker. I didn't have the chance to tell you how wonderful you were to us, but I know you know you were. I'm glad baby Jaidyn had the chance to meet you. I remember you and grandma bought her diapers every other month and those little moments I will cherish. I am not going to say goodbye because I will see you again. We all love and miss you grandpa.

Grandpa, I want to thank you for being who you were- a positive role model, gracious, brave, good, honest and Godly man. Thank you for all the good memories during my youth... and as an adult. I enjoyed listening to your stories about your childhood. You had an amazingly good life! And no matter now ill you were in your last days- you still managed to smile...how your eyes lit up with joy and no matter how weak you were you still managed to reach out to hold my baby Emma. Wow! Grandpa, We can't tell you how much we miss you! You were the BEST grandpa anyone could ever have! We will never forget our hot summer's at Lake Success when you had the houseboat, moonlight fishing, camping, BBQ's, trip to Disneyland, Avila Beach,yard sales at our house you made it fun, etc. How you loved to be in the sun! But most of all we will never forget the interesting stories you would tell us about your youth, the things you went through, your family history. Dad- I miss having coffee and pan dulce with you and watching novelas and listening to your long stories of the past when you were young. Thank you for always being there for me and my sons-- and taking them on vacations and outings, graduations, repairs around my home, etc. You were always there! Grandpa, growing up as a little girl you were always so gentle and sweet to me, you took all of us grandkids to fun places, beach, lake,swimming, camping,traveling to see the Missions, played card games with us. You were always there for me,especially at my saddest moments when I needed someone you would show up at my front door as if you knew. Grandpa, not only were you a perfect "Father" but also a perfect "Grandfather". As a child growing up you took me fishing, camping, to the beach,to the lake for rides on your houseboat, to Las Vegas, we had great poker games at your home with the other grandsons, we worked together on projects, I have so many wonderful memories of us, in a way you taught me to be a man.
