1927 - 2016

Ricardo Juarez Alvarez, 89, of Porterville, CA, passed away on January 31, 2016 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Ricardo was born January 22, 1927 in Livingston, CA to Cosme Alvarez and Marianna Juarez.
Ricardo worked as a baker, shoemaker, and farm laborer. Ricardo was gifted with an artistic talent that is displayed on buildings and portraits throughout the City of Porterville. One of his portraits won the Tulare County Fair Amateur Art Contest in 1973.
Ricardo was preceded in death by his parents, his son; Ramon Alvarez, brother; Antonio Alvarez, and sister; Rebecca Alvarez.
He is survived by his wife Maria Josefa Alvarez of Porterville. Brothers Ruben Alvarez and Mario Alvarez of San Jose, Children; Lisa Herrera, Tony Alvarez, Jeannie Chavez and partner Trudy Givens, Robert Alvarez and wife Jennifer, Mary Ann Gonsalves and husband Steve of Porterville. Maria Gutierrez and husband Juan of Perris, Maggie Eskew and husband Mike of Bakersfield, Richard Alvarez and wife Brenda of Stockton. Grandchildren; Jorge Gutierrez, Miguel Gutierrez , Eduardo Gutierrez , Cristiana Salazar, Amanda Serna, Jeanna Chavez, Ruben Chavez, Michael Chavez, Andrea Alvarez, Cecilia Alvarez, , Roberto (Bear) Alvarez, Alia Alvarez and Russell Migalski, along with 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.
Viewing will be held at Whitehurst-Peters-Loyd Funeral and Cremation Service located at 195 N. Hockett Street, Porterville, CA on Monday February 8, 2016 from 1:00pm - 8:00pm. Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be on February 9, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church followed by a graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Porterville.
