Robert W. League

1921 - 2016

Rev. Robert W. League passed from this world on February 8, 2016. He was born in Haigler, Nebraska, March 30, 1921. He served in the Coast Guard in World War II, where he met and married Ella Marie Stewart.
He is survived by his beloved wife of seventy-two years, a son Robert A., a daughter Geraldine (Dee) Johnston, and a foster-son, Thomas Allison , as well as nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His father Ray, his mother, Anna Sophia, eight brothers, and his son, Glen A. League, preceded him death.
After the war Bob and Marie lived in Long Beach, CA until 1958, when the family moved to Cressey, CA. While there he prepared for the ministry and eventually served Nazarene churches in Lamont, Hughson, Delano and Springville until his retirement.
After his "retirement" he became a general contractor, repairing and remodeling many churches and building many homes. He and Marie are members of the Nazarene Ch rch in Porterville, where they have made many long-term friendships. He was dearly loved by his family, frien ds, and his church and he will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 13, 2016 10:30am at the Nazarene Church, 2005 W. Olive, in Porterville, CA. A reception will follow. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a contribution to Optimal Hospice would be made to 661 N. Prospect Ave., Porterville, CA 93257.
