Dear Roger,
Say hello to Barbara when you see her in heaven. I will always miss both of you and the friendship we had at USPHS Neurology where you and she were my Neurology partners. Our lunch huddles provided a venue for mutual consultation about patients and colleagues, advice counseling about our personal lives, jokes, recipes, and just support for each other. Since our residency together at Downstate, I have always admired your acerbic wit, your passion for the underdog, your literary skills, your penchant for practical jokes, and your beautiful penmanship. As your FB friend, I have also enjoyed reading your no-holds barred comments and your liberal views. Roger, your memory will always be treasured. RIP dear friend.

My dear Roger,
Phil, Mary and I and so many of your patients miss you here in Brooklyn, NY. It was an honor to work for and with you for over 30 years and I more than most can attest to your love and commitment to your patients. They miss you but are well attended to by Dr. Kate (all those who have chosen to be followed by her) so you know that she will love them and care for them the way you did. Rest in Eternal Peace and be with Al and Louise in Porterville. Always remember all of us here in Brooklyn and at Lutheran Medical Center who you loved you and we adored you. But intercede for your beloved husband, Hector who took loving care of you for so many years. May he and his family ever know that they are beloved for all Hector did to keep you healthy and loved since 1992. We who knew the 2 of you witnessed this profound love. We all loved you.

Roger, gifted with extraordinary humor and wit, filled our lives with endless joys. But more than that, his care and concern for those who suffered was genuine and personal. Throughout his life he went through untold efforts to mitigate their pain. He earned the love, respect and admiration of all who knew him. In life he brought us soothing comfort and joy; in death, his absence gnaws at the heart.

Donna and Family, I'm so sad to learn of Roger's passing. I was moved by the eloquent summary of his professional life and personal accomplishments. He was self sacrificing in every way and he'll surely be missed by all those who love him.
