William George Tranter

1933 - 2016

William George (Bill) Tranter, 83, of Springville, CA passed away on December 13, 2016, in Springville, where he lived for 40 years. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 24, 1933, to William and Regina Tranter. The family moved to Los Angeles, where he graduated in 1953 from Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale CA, and later graduated from Glendale College and the University of San Francisco. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force and then returned to Glendale, where he met the love of his life, Janet Lindgren. They were married on September 6, 1957, in Glendale, CA. They raised four daughters together in Southern California until Janet passed away in 1970. Bill was an Electrical Engineer and worked for McDonnell Douglas and Amp Electric in Costa Mesa, CA. for many years before becoming self employed. He was also an accomplished farrier and once owned and operated a water pump and well service business in Springville. He enjoyed many activities throughout his life, including golf, karate, skiing, fishing, playing guitar, rafting the King's River, and working outdoors on his many projects. He loved all of his pets, and rescued many of them over the years. Bill is survived by four daughters, Lisa (Chuck) Keller of Clovis; Lori (Mark) Sterbenk of Ft Collins CO; Shari (Jim) Loyd of Lincoln; Karen (Doug) Watkins of Visalia; and his sister, Diana Ballard, of Tehachapi. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Carson Keller, Betsey Keller, John Polhamus, Kyle Sterbenk, Brian (Shana) Trukki, Aric Champagne, Amy Champagne, and Ben Watkins, and his great grandson William Trukki. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and several close friends and neighbors in Springville whom he dearly loved and appreciated.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on January 5, 2017, at Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary in Corona Del Mar.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 12:00 PM at the Springville Veteran's Memorial Building. Everyone is welcome to attend.
