Aaron Arthur Shipley Sr., 75, of Route 22 East, died Thursday, September 1, 2022 in Reno, Nevada while visiting family. He was completely surrounded by loving family at the time of his passing.
Aaron was born in Washington Court House, Ohio on June 27, 1947, the son of Grover Richard and Helen Marie (Hollar) Shipley Sr. Aaron spent most all his life in Fayette County and attended Washington Court House City Schools. On 18 December 1964, Aaron was united in marriage to Monica (Stevens), a marriage that would span nearly 58 years and see the birth of four boys. In 1965, he began working at Armco Steel and for the next 50 years the steel industry would be his calling. Aaron knew the steel industry better than most and was recruited to continue working it in Terre Haute, Indiana. At home he served in numerous community volunteer roles to include; New Holland Cub Scout Pack 157 Cubmaster, Founder's Day Project leader, and Fayette County Life Squad member and president.
Aaron was well-known as a true jack-of-all-trades who could build and repair most anything. His hobbies spanned a broad spectrum from beekeeping to gardening to building. An all-American, hardworking, salt of the earth, lead by example man, many will miss his advice and counsel. An avid outdoorsman, he hunted, trapped, and fished with a passion. This passion was passed on at every opportunity providing mentorship to many. Aaron loved anything outdoors and in recent years enjoyed spending time on his zero-turn mowing (more acres than he should have) along the banks of the North Fork of Paint Creek.
Of all his passions, his big, extended family was his true calling. He raised his own children, adopted others, and opened his heart and doors to everyone – all felt his love.
Aaron was predeceased by his mother, father, a son Jeffrey Alan, a grandson Aaron Arthur III, and a brother-in-law Joe Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Monica (Stevens) Shipley, sister and two brothers, Sandy Smith, Dick (Ginger) Shipley, and Terry Shipley, all of New Holland, Ohio, three sons, Aaron (Michelle) Shipley of Lewis Center, Ohio, Bryan (Rachel) Shipley of Sparks, Nevada, and James (Dana) Shipley of Mason City, Iowa, an adopted son, Reason Albright of Canada, 19 grandchildren; Taylor (Kelley) Shipley, Zachary Shipley, Nathaniel Shipley, Abby Shipley, Josh (Jamie) Shipley, Amanda (Alex) Lewis, Timothy Shipley, Molinda (Anthony) Leavitt, Israel Jurado, Isaac Jurado, Jonathan (Blayze) Jurado, Destiny Shipley, Caleb Shipley, Morgan Shipley, Jacob Shipley, Nick Naumann, Morgan Naumann, Garon Shipley and Cassidy Shipley (grandchildren he raised as his own children). Additionally, he is blessed with 14 great-grandchildren

Dear Monica and Family. I hope and pray for All of you and your families. I will always remember Aaron as an always smiling good natured individual, Who never had a bad word to say about anyone as he followed in his fathers foot steps of fishing.hunting, and, trapping.
During our early teen years we spent many an hour on our bicycles riding to Gardner Park and even out past Miani Trace HS fishing the creeks. Then in our twenties we would hunt around New Holland for pheasant and rabbits. Our childhood friendship lasted even after I left WCH. In visits to my parents, always included a visit or two to Aaron and Monica's home , which Juanita and our 3 and I will always remember as if we were brothers.

So saddened to hear of Aaron's passing. The last time I saw him was at my brother Larry's funeral over a year ago. Aaron gave me a great compliment that day when he called me "Mini Mae" and said I looked just like my mother. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family as you go through this difficult time of separation. Cherish the memories and remember that heaven gets sweeter all the time. God bless you all.
