Barbara Janice Armintrout

1931 - 2021

Barbara Janice Armintrout, 90, of Washington Court House, Ohio moved on to reunite with the love of her life, Alvin, on Sunday, March 28, 2021, at 3:05 p.m. at her home.

She born January 2, 1931, in Chillicothe, Ohio to Ora and Elizabeth Barfell Rooker and for the 90 years in between, she brightened this world with her kind heart, quick wit and selfless love.

After graduating from Waverly High School, she married Alvin George Armintrout on August 26.1950, and together, they built a thriving farm and family.

She had formerly attended the McNair Memorial Presbyterian Church and had been a 4-H advisor; a member of the Bloomingburg Lioness Club and the Gradale Club.

In addition to her husband, who preceded her in death on March 21, 2003, she was also preceded by a grandson, Aaron Armintrout, and a brother, Donald "Jake" Rooker.

She is survived by four children, Jennifer (Greg) Holder of Cape Coral, FL; Joyce (David) Layne, Wayne Armintrout and Ryan (Lisa) Armintrout, all of Washington Court House; eight lucky grandchildren, Kyle Armintrout, Susan Armintrout, Stephanie (Nicholas) Lockwood, Samantha Armintrout, Lindsey (Jeff) Landthorn, Tony (Amy) Holder, Brian (Gina) Holder and Jaime M. VanZant.

As much as Barbara fiercely loved her family, she also doted and worried over anyone or anything who happened into her life that may have been in need of care or love. She was a talented painter, skilled bargain shopper, lover of sweets, gifted gardener, cancer survivor, and too many other amazing things to list here.

Because Barbara would want everyone to stay safe and healthy, there will be no public calling hours or visitation. For those whom would like to celebrate her life, there will be a graveside service Saturday, April 3, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Bloomingburg Cemetery with her cousin, Bob Kellough, officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House

Barbara always had a fondness for furry (and feathered) creatures, and she would be so happy that, in lieu of spending money on flowers, contributions in her memory be made to the Fayette Regional Humane Society, 153 South Main Street, Suite 3, Washington Court House, Ohio 43160 to honor both her and two of her beloved companions, Buttercup and Frisky, who she is so happy to see again. Contributions may also be made to Ohio's Hospice of Fayette County, 222 North Oakland Avenue, Washington Court House, Ohio 43160.
