Brenda Joyce Coulter, 64, of Washington Court House peacefully passed away at home on October 20, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Brenda was born on August 9, 1957, to the late Lawrence Sword and Laudra Lemaster. She grew up in London, Ohio, alongside her five siblings and graduated from Madison Plains High School before moving to Columbus and beginning her career, working her way to an executive assistant role at Battelle. She wed her husband, Jeff, in 1997, and they built a life full of laughter and joy together. In her proudest accomplishment, Brenda raised two daughters, Laura and Katie, who she cheered on daily until her passing. She also played an integral role in her grandsons' lives growing up, earning the beloved name "Ma." Described by her husband as a little pistol with a heart of gold, Brenda enjoyed soaking up the sun at the beach, putting her green thumb to use by gardening and winning Sunday night bowling tournaments. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She also spoiled her pets, including the family dog, Rusty, and several cats she rescued throughout the years.
Brenda is predeceased by her father, Lawrence Sword, mother, Laudra Lemaster, stepfather, Tennyson Lemaster, and brother, Danny Sword. She is survived by her husband, Jeff, daughters, Laura Throckmorton (Larry) and Katie Coulter, grandsons, Trevor and Adam Throckmorton, sisters, Margaret "Peg" Brown (Larry), Barbara Robertson (Frank), Venita "Rae" Sword, and Linda "Linny" Peters (Sean), and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, 331 W. Main Street, Mount Sterling, OH, 43143, on Monday, October 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral immediately following.
