John Randolph Futhey of New Holland, Ohio, passed away on October 13, 2021, at the age of 78.

He was born on August 24, 1943 in Grenada, Mississippi, to the late John William Futhey and Florence May (Mills) Futhey.

John was a proud father, grandfather, and an active member of his community church. He served his country in the Army during Vietnam, earning four medals for service in a combat zone, and returning to Ohio in 1967.

John explored the entirety of the United States, during his fifty-years as a truck driver. Then, after a million miles over land, he achieved his lifelong dream of piloting a small airplane, exploring the skies over Ohio in retirement.

John never missed an opportunity to spend time with family or attend a game with his grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Judy (Vince) Futhey; sons, John (Robyn) Futhey of Piketon, Ohio, and James Futhey of Seattle, Washington; his grandchildren, Will Futhey, Wade Futhey, Tabytha Cooper, Isaac (Madison) Cooper, and Ravyn Cooper; brothers, Gene Futhey, and Jackie Wilson.

A service will be held at 1pm on Monday, October 18, 2021, at the Southside Church of Christ with Pastor Todd Maurer officiating. Burial will follow in the Highlawn Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Monday from 11am until the service. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Fayette County Honor Guard, c/o Pat Dewees, 707 Clinton Ave., Washington C.H., OH 43160.
