There are no words that can fully describe the loss of Marc and what he has meant to so many people. I met Marc in Toronto in 1999. Instantly, I could tell that he was someone special. Over the course of the following years my friends and I would travel from Michigan to come and see Marc perform. His music and his pure joy for life was contagious. He even included a mnemonic that we had been using to study for a test into his song 'Acrobat' from his Uncle CD.

He would call me his only American friend (given how many people he has touched, I doubt that), however, I wore and will continue to wear that badge with honor. I will continue to share Marc's music and help him live on through his craft.

My heart breaks for the loss of a friend, it breaks for Marc's family and his close friends that he was able to touch everyday. Blessings and may there be peace found through all of this sadness.

We are always told that the best are taken from this earth first. It seems wrong somehow, that someone who touched so many lives in positive ways was taken so early and without warning. He will live on in our memories and his music, as well as through his children. To the family, my heart aches for you.

It was an absolute privilege to work with Marc over the past few months. He brought music, laughter and kindness to the job site. Our union lost a brother and he will be missed dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

Worked with Marc many years ago in a dingy restaurant in Milton, ON. The only thing about him that amazed me more than how much talent he had, was the fact that he was an even better human being. How many people can say that they met one person their whole lives who never had a harsh word for anyone and was loved by everyone. I knew one ... Deeply shocked and saddened for your loss. God bless the Nelson families at this difficult time.

Even though its been many years since I've seen Marc, you never forget what a terrific guy he was. He could be friends with anyone, it didn't matter how rich or poor, how popular or how nerdy you were. None of that mattered to Marc. He could see the person inside. The world is a richer place because of him. My deepest condolences to his entire family, but especially his wife and children.
Rest in peace Marc

He leaned down to pick me up, as I reached up to him the beard was soft...framing the gentle smile, the eyes loving me, accepting me, unconditionally so, He lifted me high the ground beneath me receding. He held me securely, next to the warmth of his heart. And from my new perspective with him everything looked new I could find my way now because he carried me.

The Loranger-Kozlik family extend their deepest sympathies to Ryanne, Jack, Evy, family, friends and anyone touched by Marc's passing. My family came to know Ryanne, Marc and Evy through their son Jack who was a classmate and new friend to my son Delano. We were instantly drawn to them, their beeming friendliness and true kindness was apparant and we knew they are THE good people. Over the years we've come to know Marc for his great music, his particapation in the community, and presence at school functions. Marc left a lasting impression on us and we will miss him. His beautiful, kind and caring spirit will live on forever in his music. We gesture a contribution to Jack and Evelyn's education fund.

There was more to this guy than a hard hat.

I met him at a house party a few years ago where he was playing. I told my wife on the way home “that I wanted to be his friend” after singing, playing and talking together. Someone you felt you knew for years after meeting, a real good guy.

I contacted him a few months later and asked if he would play at my wife's 40th birthday. He was great, playing Newfoundland tunes for my brother in law while he danced with my sister, mixing with the crowd during breaks, he had a few vodka shots, we all played guitar and sang together later. This news is so very sad, just 44 years old. I remember him telling me about working construction and his kids. I can't imagine how much a warm, beautiful guy like this will be missed.
