Norman Eugene Underwood, age 92, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe.
He was born on May 7, 1933 in Fayette County to the late Roy and Ellie (Mustain) Underwood. Norman proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956; he stayed in the Air Force Reserves until 1993. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. Norman also worked at the Record-Herald, NCR, the former Clinton County Air Force Base, Rickenbacker Air Force Base, and the Miller Food Distribution Center. He was member at the Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed harness racing at Scioto Downs, fishing, WWE wrestling, country music, snack time parties, and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his siblings, Dick Underwood, Barb Bennett, Jim Underwood, Nancy Anders, and Betty Anthony, and daughter-in-law, Christy Underwood.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Faye Lorene (Jones) Underwood, whom he married on March 9, 1956; his children, Rhonda (Chris) Plante, David Underwood, Mark Underwood, and Christy (Troy) Morgan; grandchildren, Aaron (Joni) Plante, Brendan (Casey) Plante, Jeremy Underwood, Kirby Underwood, Cameron (Ellie) Morgan, Branson Morgan, and Mason Morgan; great- grandchildren, Jadyn, Madelynn, Josie, Magnolia, Meadow, Juniper, Emerson, and Adaline; sister, Mary Cox; and his beloved canine companion, Little Susie. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, along with a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Brandon Lee officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery.
