The funeral for Paul Edwin Hurtt, 83, of New Holland, was held Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland with Jeff Davis, chaplain for Hospice of Fayette County, officiating.
Pallbearers for the burial in New Holland Cemetery were Charlie Oty, Todd Koger, Bradley Planter, Michael Cofer, Jared Moser and Gary Herdman.
Complete military honors were bestowed by the Honor Guard of Fayette County. The flag of the United States Navy veteran was folded by Charles "Buck" Harris and Mike Curl and was presented to Paul's wife, Betty Speakman Hurtt. Members of the honor guard were Phil French, Cecil Ratliff, David Frederick, Tom Slager, Glenn Rankin, James Thayer and Elaine Stallsworth with Bill Foody serving as commander. Stephen Zastrow sounded Taps.
Paul, a retired crane operator at Armco, died Thursday, March 2, 2017, at St. Catherine's Manor of Washington Court House.
