Ronnie L. Salyers, age 74, of Walhonding, Ohio, passed away, surrounded by his family, at 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at The OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. He was born on February 27, 1950, in Paintsville, Kentucky, he was the son the of the late Esley E. "Shorty" and Beatrice LeMaster Salyers. On August 19, 1982, he married the former Rebecca J. Workman, who survives.
Ronnie was a 1968 graduate of Miami Trace High School; he then went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force and the Air Force Reserves of Ohio. He worked as a Telephone Technician for Embarq Telephone Company for more than forty years until his retirement in 2013. In the past, Ronnie enjoyed fishing, hunting mushrooms and riding and caring for his horses. Ronnie also liked traveling, going to the casino and watching sports, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes.
In addition to his loving wife of more than forty years, Ronnie is survived his sisters, Ruby Yates, Kathy (Jeff) Brown, all of Greenfield and Bonnie Salyers of Circleville; his nieces and nephews, Shane (Diana) Durbin and Darin (Lisa) Durbin, all of Danville, Stephanie (Gunther) Meisse of Belleville, Jason (Angelina) Workman of Columbus, Jaime (Lance) Heath of Williamsport, Tasha Brown Smith of Grove City and Tyler Wayne Brown of Washington Court House along with several great-nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his sister in-law, Carolyn Durbin (Jimmy Ackerman); his brother in-law, Stephen (Joan) Workman, all of Danville and his friend Marvin Raber along with a host of many friends that will always remember "Chappy".
In keeping with Ronnie's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no viewing or services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Ronnie's name be made to the charity of your choice.
