Zaharias Balahtsis Obituary
Zaharias (Jack) Stergios Balahtsis, age 85, of Upper Arlington, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
Zaharias was born in the village of Milochori, Greece. Preceded in death by his parents Stergios Zaharias and Stiliani (Vavouras), brother-in-law Alexander Kollias and son Nick Balahtsis. He was a member of St. George Greek Church in New Port Richey, Florida and the founder of Jacks Inc., a worldwide wholesale manufacturer/distributor of equine supplies. Jack was a hardworking and generous person who enjoyed playing poker, watching sporting events and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Steve (Ronda) Balahtsis and daughter Dede (Shawn) Dean, grandchildren Zach, Alexia, Kallista, Angel, Mario, Demetre, Gabrielle, Alex, Chris and Dominic, seven great grandchildren, siblings Katina (Alexander) Kollias, Nick (Eftihia) Balahtsis and Sultana (Nick) Harvey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2022 at O.R. WOODYARD CO. CHAPEL, 2990 Bethel Rd. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 555 N. High St. followed by interment at Union Cemetery.
