Allen Dawang
November 19, 1912 - July 11, 2008
Born in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on November 19, 1912 as Aquio Soliman Daoang. He immigrated to Hawaii in June 1931, and a year later went to San Francisco to join his brother. He enlisted in the 1st Filipino Infantry Regiment "L" Company U.S. Army during WWII. In 1954, he came back to Lathrop, CA and brought his wife and 3 children and was followed with an American born child in 1956. In 1958 the family moved to Placerville and in 1965 moved to Walnut Grove until he retired at age 85 in February 1998. Allen passed away on Friday morning, July 11, 2008 at the age of 95. His loving family was with him till the end at South Sacramento Kaiser Permanente Hospital where he received excellent care.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bienvenida "Baby/Sisie/Bening" Pedraza-Dawang; his daughter, Rufina "Ena" Gee with husband, Malcolm Gee of Sacramento, and grandchildren Brian Gee wife Le Dao of L.A. and Lynda Gee-Mullins-Simmons of Sacramento; son, Allen Francisco "Frisco" Dawang with wife Wilma "Inday" Codog and grandchildren Dameon and Remy Dawang of Manteca; second son, Joseph Dawang with wife Zayda Tagum and grandchildren Steven and Danielle Dawang of Elk Grove; second daughter, Hope Polido-Birdwell with grandchildren Tiffany, Jonathan, Melissa and Alisha Polido of Clayton. Great grandchildren are Mekhi Clark, Stephenwolf Mullins, Aleaya Simmons, Deyontay Simmons and Chloe Gee.
Rosary will be on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Palms, 303 S. California St., Stockton, CA. Mass will be held on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. George, 120 W. 5th St., Stockotn, CA. Interment will be at the San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery at 719 East Harding Way, Stockton, CA.
