Stockton - Catherine (Cathy) Edna Topping Jackson, 67 of Stockton, California passed away peacefully at Noon on June 8th, 2021 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon after sustaining severe head trauma caused by a motorcycle accident on May 22, 2021. She was surrounded by her husband, four children and family at the time of death.
Cathy was born in Reno, Nevada on May 3, 1954. The second of four children to Steve and Eleanor Topping. Raised in Stockton, she graduated from A.A. Stagg High School in 1972. She attended San Joaquin Delta College with the intent of becoming a school teacher/counselor. In 1974, she began working at St. Joseph's Hospital where she spent nearly 15 years working in the Respiratory Therapy Department. It was at St. Joe's that she met the love of her life, an electrician in the maintenance and engineering department, named Steve Jackson.
Steve and Cathy eloped in South Lake Tahoe in November of 1977. They then wed at Morris Chapel in April of 1978 in which they took full advantage of celebrating their anniversaries every 6 months for the next 43 years. Cathy became a mother to Steve's children, Steffanie and Phillip, and then gave birth to two daughters, Crystal and Carlie which forever created The Jackson 6.
Cathy's real work began in 1989 when she chose to change careers and became a Real Estate Agent. For over 30 years, she served the San Joaquin County as one of the top grossing agents around the area. Her passion for helping anyone to buy and sell properties created endless opportunities for her to cast a wide net of friends around her. To extend her options to help others, she also became a Mortgage Loan Officer later in her career where she actively help persons fix their finances so they could finally purchase a home or refinance with the lowest rate. She took so much pride in nailing down the best options to help everyone.
Cathy is the matriarch of her family where she lived to exist for and with Steve, her four children and her most prized possessions of two granddaughters and three grandsons. She could be recognized anywhere by her laugh. With the biggest personality, she was always up for a good time, especially if there was dancing. There was also not a holiday she didn't decorate her house from top to bottom. Her annual women's bus trip to San Francisco every December became legendary. Pool party's at her house were a constant theme. Traveling was in her blood with Reno and South Lake Tahoe as two of her favorite destinations. It may have been said she was a gambler, too. She considered herself a "River Rat" because she loved boating on the Delta. She was a RVer who spent a ton of time at her "river house" on the delta. She was also a "Biker Babe" who loved to ride with Steve on their Harley Davidson's any chance they could. Cathy also loved the Giants and the Niners, where you knew there could always be a party at her house for the big games. The most important part of all that she did, was that she made sure to lend out a hand and invite anyone and everyone to whatever she was doing and you better believe she was feeding you to.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Steve Jackson, her two daughters Crystal (Patrick) Hapgood and Carlie Jackson, step-children Steffanie Jackson and Phillip Jackson, grandchildren Alexis Jackson, Brayden Ross, Kit Ross, Brodie Jackson and Chase Jackson, step-grandchildren Wyland Hapgood and Brodderick Hapgood, mother Eleanor Topping, siblings Margaret (Manuel) Chavez, Leroy (Kori) Topping and Stephanie Topping, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Cathy is predeceased by her father Steve Topping (2014).
Cathy was cremated in Oregon and brought home with Steve and her children. Upon Steve's death, their ashes will be spread at their favorite places on the Delta and South Lake Tahoe.
Currently her celebration of life is yet to be scheduled.
She is dearly missed by her family and her wide expanse of friends. We have all vowed to do as she would and keep the party going. Let it be known that her husband will always love her.

I will always remember the good times during our days at St Josephs and the associated parties at our get togethers. One thing was for certain no matter where it was at or what the occasion, if their was dancing going on Cathy and Steve would be in the middle of it!

I sincerely wanted to extend my condolences to all of you. I met Cathy when Becky recommended her when I was ready to sell my house. I didn't know her very long and it didn't take long to find out how loving and caring she was also to see she was someone who loved people and life and someone who lived life to the fullest. For sure she will be missed.

Just to let you all know we considered Cathy a treasure to us all, she brightened our day the moment we made contact with her. Cathy was blessed with a huge heart, and it was big enough for all of us, we really don't know how she found the time for us all. We've met a lot of people in our life, no one compares to how special Cathy was and how thoughtful, caring & so damn energetic. Her smile and laugh we will never forget. This memorial to my longtime friend had me crying. She took me under her wing at 13 and never let go. She lived her life to the fullest. The world is a sadder place without her. My heart aches for her family and so many friends. My memories of her are vast and happy
