Cleta M. Fortney, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007 following a brief illness. She was 82. She was born April 16, 1924 in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma. During the Depression she and her family relocated to the Linden area, and then to the Stockton area where she lived the remainder of her life. She retired from Sears Roebuck in 1976 after 20 years. Throughout her life she was very active in her church, Zion Lutheran, and volunteered with the Chamber of Commerce Ag Expo for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Leland and her brothers, Leo (Edyth), Leonard (Peggy), Cecil "Pete", Wiley (Joann) and Jim Henderson. She is survived by her brother, Calvin Henderson (Viola) of Stockton, CA; her three sons, Don Felkins (Sally) of Stockton, CA, Cecil Felkins of Ione, CA and Jeff Fortney (Sallie) of Plano, TX; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Final respects may be made on Friday, January 19, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Wallace-Martin Funeral Home, 520 N. Sutter Street, Stockton. Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 808 Porter Ave., Stockton on Saturday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Cherokee Memorial Park on Monday, January 22 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Cleta's name.
