My Father was a great man, a terrific person who loved life and his family. He was taken away from us too soon here on earth and given to the Lord in Heaven. May the angels above and all the loved ones who have passed before us, enjoy him until we meet again.
I will always have our Dad close to my heart and will always remember all the things he has taught me in life. My fondest memories of Dad are of how "Tall" I thought he was when I was young. I didn't think I would be able to look him in the eye, as I had to always grab a chair to stand on to be as tall as Dad was. Dad taught us outdoor adventure, camping, hiking and made take these long hikes. Even today we still love our outdoor adventures, thanks to Dad. Dad always liked to fish and hunt. During his fishing and hunting outings, he would bring home some big fish, sometimes even a shark! Fresh fish for dinner was always a treat. When Dad went hunting and got the right pheasant, he would have it stuffed for all of us to look at his prize... a trophy on the fireplace mantel. Dad taught us to build, fix, problem solve, and to "figure it out" as these were his methods to having people think for themselves. I am especially thankful for his teachings of raising animals and living on a farm. He taught us very early, every morning of every day, that you had to get up and do your "chores" before and after school. A teenager sleeping past 7am was unacceptable and unheard of to him, as there was work to do! We had a very large organic garden, raised our own organic meat. We loved the farm, we had room to run, play baseball, ride our horse, pony, and be free to be ourselves. He let me raise my own sheep, name them, play with them and some to be sold at the fair. He taught us to drive his old truck, I remember when my sister Lola was learning to drive and she hit a tree, he didn't even get mad, well maybe just a little. Trucks were made tough back then so it probably was just a dented bumper. As we got older, we ran with our friends more and spent less time with our parents. Dad was always there in the back of our minds telling us what to do and what NOT to do and through all his teachings, I believe he was just keeping us safe and thinking smart.
After the passing of our Mother Naomi (Dolly), Dad met the most amazing woman who would prove to be the best of him. They loved life hard, traveled the world and were very active in the community.
I will always be grateful to my Step-Mother Beverly for living life to the fullest with him. As an adult, I can still hear my Fathers teachings, his little "words of wisdom" in everything I do. I always tell my heart that it's Dad keeping me safe.
Dad loved to see his grandchildren and spend time with them teaching them the way he taught us. I am so very thankful that he had the chance in life to get to know each and every one of these littles and if he had it his way, they would be his little Mini-Me's.
Through all the hard times and good times, I wouldn't want it any other way.
We love you Dad and miss you terribly. Until we meet again...
Love, your Daughter Christine
