Stockton, CA
Dec. 1, 1951 - October 11, 2007
Gary C. Bloom, 55, of Stockton died Thursday, October 11, 2007 in a hospital surrounded by his fa mily. Mr. Bloom was a lifelong resident of Stockton born to Charles and Carolyn Bloom on December 1, 1951. Gary Bloom was President/Owner of Bloom Construction Company, a family business started by his father in 1963 that Gary had been actively involved with for over 30 years- especially enjoying those earlier years working along side his brothers, Ronald and Bruce Bloom, both predeceasing him. Gary Bloom was a 1969 graduate of Stagg High School, attended Delta College and went on to earn his BS Degree from the University of the Pacific's School of Engineering in 1975, where he has always maintained a sense of obligation serving on UOP's Feather River Inn Committee, the Industrial Advisory Board of the School of Engineering, member of the Board of Directors of Pacific's Alumni Assn. and a strong supporter of the Pacific Athletic Foundation having enjoyed many years as a season ticketholder to UOP's basketball games. Bloom Construction Co. constructed UOP's BUCK HALL, an addition to the Conservatory of Music as well as the 49er Facility. Staying connected with the Stockton community was important to Gary. He was a member of the Builders Exchange, the San Joaquin Partnership, ASCE, Yosemite Club and St. Joseph's Hospital OCS. Gary has also been a longtime member of the Stockton Golf and Country Club and was the General Contractor on their newly completed Clubhouse. Gary Bloom was a member of the Olympic Club of San Francisco, AOPA and Silver Wings Fraternity. Loved by many, Gary will be especially missed by his loving wife of 17 years, Lauri; their son, Gregory Charles Bloom; stepson, Justin Hunt and his fiance, Jessica Podesta; mother-in-law, Jean Barker; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Bloom and Kelly Bloom; nieces and nephews, Andy, Scooter, Molly, Kristen and Brad Bloom. Gary dearly loved his entire family and many, many close friends that he regarded first and foremost; second to them, he loved flying his airplanes and playing golf.

It is with fond memories of Gary's dedication to Pacific and the Feather River Inn facility that we remember him. His enthusiasm in helping arrange for the Freshman Honors students to have their final weekend of Orientation at the Inn was a motivating factor in its success.
Please accept our warmest thoughts and and our appreciation of his love of family and Pacific.

To Gary's Family,
I attended Stagg High School with Gary and knew him to possess all the wonderful qualities he had become known for as a friend, and family man. He always had a smile and loved to laugh. As adults in this community our paths may not have crossed, but I know a beautiful spirit has left those he loved with fond memories and much love.
Sincerely, Lynda Rose Williams

I was sorry to learn of Gary's passing. He was a student of mine at UOP and I enjoyed his participation in School of Engineering activities both as a student and as a graduate. I recall the time he and his classmates called me from San Jose to tell me that they won first place in a concrete beam breaking contest. They were a very proud bunch. My wife and I enjoyed seeing and talking with Gary whether at a UOP basketball game, at the store or around town.
