George Emmanuel Xenos

George Emmanuel Xenos passed away early Sunday, August 22 after a 7 week illness, his loving
wife by his side. George was born to Greek immigrants Emmanuel Xenos (Xenakis) and Stamata Stamiri Xenos and lived his entire life in Stockton. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Denver where he met his late wife, Lucille Bellanti, who passed away in 2001. They were married for 47 years and raised three children. In 2007 George married his high school sweetheart, Bobbe. They shared five joyous years together.
George is survived by his wife, Bobbe Blair Xenos; daughter, Marirose Powell (Andre) and sons, Fr. William Xenos (Melissa) and George P. Xenos (Stephanie). He is also survived by 3 step-children, Jimmy Blair, John Blair and Melynda Cadenhead. He leaves 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille and sisters, Eva Papas, Mary Linde, Amelia Sarras, Helen Zarkas and brother, William Xenos.
A long time educator and former SUSD Superintendent, George was dedicated to his students success and is fondly known by many. He put service above self in his professional life, was an active member at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church and a longtime volunteer at Fr. Alan McCoy Dining Room of St. Mary's Interfaith Community Services. He was a past member of Rotary Club of Stockton. George treated friends as family, and over the years he formed may lasting connections with people from all walks of life. He was a trusted adviser and leader. He knew Stockton and its children and did everything possible for their betterment. He will be missed by all.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Chapel of the Palms, Stockton. Family and friends are invited to attend Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 26, at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Christian Church, 920 W. March Lane, Stockton. The funeral service will be 9 a.m. Friday, August 27, at St. Basil.

Dear Bobbe,
I'm so sorry for the loss of Papou. He loved you so much, and it showed everytime he looked at you - always a smile and a twinkle in his eye. Thank you for being so dedicated and loving to Papou. You meant the world to him! I love you, and let me know if you need anything!

May his children find comfort in knowing he is in his final resting place, with the love of his life. May all that knew George, be able to keep the love in their hearts, as he did, all of his time on earth.
How lucky for all his friends and family to have our paths cross with the such a loving, thoughtful and kind man.
