Gerald G. Wright passed away peacefully to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 in Manteca. Gerald was 72 years of age. He was born on July 20, 1933 in Reedley, California to the late Fred M. Wright and the late Peggy Bone. He was also preceded in death by his step dad, Troy Bone. Gerald lived his youth in Bakersfield, and then moved to Paso Robles in 1951. While in Paso Robles Gerald attended the Achievement House in Morro Bay, and led his family to the Lord through his attendance at the First Assembly of God Church. Gerald and his family moved to Manteca in 1972. Gerald had lived in Manteca for the past 34 years. While living in Manteca, Gerald had been attending Manteca CAPS and later Manteca Senior CAPS. Gerald also participated in the first Special Olympics in Los Angeles where he won a Bronze Metal. He also participated in Berkley in 1983. Gerald also attended the First Nazarene Church on Argonaut in Manteca. Family and friends of Gerald remember him as one who loved nature, rug hooking and working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. He also loved to debate colors with his sister: "Is that pink a mauve or a dusty rose?" Gerald was pure of heart and loved everyone he met, including Jesus. He will be remembered as a beloved brother, son, and friend.
Gerald is survived by his sister, L. Carol Bone of Manteca, CA; his sister-in-law, Pat Mahan of Bakersfield, CA; his step-mom, Frances Bone of Paso Robles, CA; his nieces, Margo N. Oliver of Nevada, Nikki J. Stricklind of Bakersfield and Suzi L. Schneider of Bakersfield; his great niece and nephew, Brittany J. Holland, Kristopher P. Smith, Amber Oliver, Jason A. Wood and Stephen J. Schneider; and his great-great- niece and nephew, Zane Holland and Aiden Holland. Gerald was preceded in death by his brother, W.M. "Corky/Junior" Wright and also by his niece, Jennifer L. Glover.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, April 30, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca. A going home celebration will be held on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Park View Cemetery following the going home celebration.
