Stockton, CA
Jan. 1, 1913 - November 20, 2006
Ida Wilson, 93, went home to the Lord on Monday, November 20, 2006. She was born in Manila and spent most of her life in the Stockton area, as a homemaker and caregiver of her disabled sister, her mother and her spouse. She was a devout Catholic, opening her home weekly for many years to the Maryknoll Sisters, to teach Catechism to school children. She enjoyed her yard and garden and loved music. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and her great-grandchild Melissa, whom she watched in birth despite the brain tumor she had lived with for a decade. Her husband, Claude D. Wilson and her only son, Lt. Cmdr. Claude Wilson, Jr., who was a casualty of the Vietnam conflict, preceded her in death. Her daughter, Janet Holl and husband Bill as well as her loving grandchildren, Gina Zaremba Rothermel, and her husband Peter, Mark Zaremba and his wife Michele, Eric Holl, Dara Holl, Nathan Holl and his wife Kristie, survive Mrs. Wilson. Great grandchildren, Ryan Rothermel, Tyler Rothermel, Melissa Nicole Zaremba, Gianna Marie Zaremba and Kinoah Holl also survive her. Her sister-in-law, Mary Pugh will forever remember the close relationship she enjoyed with Ida and her brother, Mrs. Pugh's deceased spouse, Charley. It is with appreciation that we acknowledge Dr. George Schilling, Dr. Karl Gregorius and the staff at Wagner Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, for their care during Mrs. Wilson's extended illness. Friends are invited to a Graveside Service at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery on Friday, December 1, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Pastors James Dunn and Steven Olson of First Baptist Church will officiate. There will be no visitation. DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton, CA. in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the First Baptist Church Children' Center.
