Inez Herrera Estrada, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the age of 71. She was born in Hermosillo Sonora, Mexico and was a resident of Stockton for 70 years. Inez taught nutrition for UC Davis AG extension office, worked for San Joaquin County Hospital, Adult Retardation Center and retired as a cook from the Peterson Juvenile Detention Center. Inez was past PTA President at George Washington School, a Treasurer, Bus Driver and seamstress for the C-Cadets / Commodores Drum and Bugle Corps. She was also a member of the Guadalupana. Many knew Inez and Johnny Cruz as accomplished dancers. At the Jamaica or other special events, she would often be asked to share her singing talent. Inez loved life, but most of all, she loved her family, raising grandchildren and being a grandma to all children of the neighborhood. Inez was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Valenzuela and her father, Lorenzo Herrera; by her first husband, John Cruz and her second husband, Salud Estrada; by two late infant sons and son, John Cruz, Jr. Loving mother of two daughters, Lucia Noriega and Alicia Robertson. Devoted grandmother to Irene Noriega, John Cruz, III, Jasmine Noriega, Randy Noriega, Kenneth Robertson, Kimberly Robertson, Angelina Cruz, Christian Noriega, Mark Martinez-Cruz, Angela Yoshida (Raymond), Carol May (Paul), Kathy Thomas (Terry) and 7 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to attend Funeral Services on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Palms Funeral Home, 303 S. California Street, Stockton thence to St. George's Catholic Church, 120 W. 5th St., Stockton for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 2, from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Committal is at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, Stockton, California.

Alice & Lucy, Tia Inez's services were full of love,laughter, warmth,unity,lots of song and most important of all presence of the Lord. Our heart felt condolence to all of you. I have many beautiful memories of our trips to Stockton. When we visited with my Tios and cousins. But my latest memory is Thanksgiving celebration in Paso Robles 2005, Seeing my tia Inez singing and dancing with the family. Thank you for allowing us to share that day with her.
