Jowell Lynn Griggs

Jowell Lynn Griggs, 42, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Manteca. She was born on December 7, 1966 in Stockton, California. Jowell was a resident of Manteca for 38 years.
Jowell is survived by her beloved family; husband of 23 years, Leo Griggs of Manteca and children Andrew James Griggs, Alexis Renae Griggs, and Aarron Carido Griggs. Her siblings are Kevin Samson and wife Denisa of Manteca, Margaux Behm of Stockton, and Ellyse Cleveland of Folsom. Here parents are Larry Samson and wife Dorothy of Stockton and Doris Ludwigsen and husband Pete of Manteca.
Jowell attended Nile Garden Elementary School and graduated in 1985 from East Union High School. Jowell worked for the Manteca Bulletin, Give Every Child A Chance, and Big League Dreams, as well as various companies and organizations around Manteca in Sales and Marketing for over 20 years. Her body of volunteer work throughout the city of Manteca was beyond enormous. No cause was too small and every person, committee, or organization was important. Jowell was always there with a helping hand. Even with all of her community service, Jowell always managed to put family first. She adored her children and cherished every moment she spent with them. Jowell was more than just an icon of Manteca; she was a shining example of an amazing mother, devoted wife, fabulous sister, daughter, and friend. Her spirit will live on through the kindness she gave to others.
Mrs. Griggs' services are being handled by P. L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A visitation will be held on Tuesday September 19, 2009 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. both held at P. L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Rd, Manteca, CA. A mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 525 E. North St., Manteca CA. Final resting place will be held at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery in Stockton, CA.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be sent to the Griggs Family Memorial Fund for the children at Delta Bank at 611 N Main St., Manteca, CA, 95336. To send a special message or to send condolences, please visit Mrs. Griggs' online guest book at www.plfryandson.com.
