Stockton, CA
June 11, 1933 - June 26, 2007
Paul F. Polk, 74, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007 in Linden, CA. Paul was born in Jordanton, Texas and as a young boy, Paul's family farmed in Texas. They were share croppers, until 1942, when their large family moved to California. Paul proclaimed "it was like the Grapes of Wrath" riding in the back of a watermelon truck from Texas to California. Paul's humor and laughter was contagious. He loved his family and all the new babies. He competed in sports of many kinds, excelled in basketball, was a devoted farmer, and a natural showman of horses. Paul met his wife of 54 years, Jackie Tone Polk, when they were both freshman at Linden High School. They were inseparable and married at age 19. Paul Polk farmed with his father-in-law, Jack Tone III and brother-in-law, Walter Gyr. He also showed Marge Tone's Arabian horses at International Championships.
In 1982 Paul and his family built a home and started Los Acres on part of their farm property along Jack Tone Road and the Mosher Creek crossing. Their Arabian horses are enjoyed by his family and many horse breeders world wide. Paul Polk's life was farming, coaching youngsters at Linden High School, serving as Director of the Stockton East Water District, and pitching for the Championship Los Acres Softball team. Hard work, farming and helping others was a tribute to his strength, popularity, and joy of life. He died on the pitchers' mound playing Los Acres softball with two of his three sons and many friends at the Linden complex. His laughter and happiness will be sadly missed by his family and faithful farm dog Peanut. Survivors: wife of 54 years, Jackie Tone Polk of Stockton; sons, John and Susan Polk of Lodi, Peter and Lisa Polk of Elk Grove, Michael and Linda Polk of Clements; daughters, Nancy Lewis of Stockton, Terry Polk and Joao Serra Coelho of Lodi; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and many brothers and sisters. He is survived by his brother, Bill and Dorothy Polk of Richmond, John Polk and wife of Santa Ana, Vernon and Carmen Fleck of Sonora, Rhienhold and Deborah Fleck of South Dakota, John and Margie Peterson of Lodi, Dino and Maydell Costigliolo of Linden and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service: Saturday June 30, 2007, 3:00 p.m. St. Joaquim's Catholic Church in Lockeford, CA, 13392 Lockeford Ranch Drive, followed by a Celebration of Paul's Life at the ranch barn, Los Acres, 10549 N. Jack Tone Rd. Stockton, CA. Family, friends, farmers, and baseball teammates invited. DeYoung Memorial Chapel in care of arrangements.

I would like to thank everyone for their special memories of my grandfather, Paul. Paul taught us how to live life to it's fulliest and always strive to do our best. Paul was always happy, and his laughter will be missed. Even though as I got older I didn't get to spend as much time at the ranch as I used too, but Paul would always drive up and say "hey kid" and give me his big smile. He always made all of us feel like we were his "favorite" even though he loved everyone the same. I miss him so much. Thank you Paul for always being there for Spencer Ryan to look up to! I love you Paul!! Keep smiling!!

I would like to thank everyone who wrote so many nice things about my father. He was a wonderful man who spread joy to everyone he met. He always had a smile on his face, treated everyone like his best friend & always had time to talk to the biggest & the smallest. He will be missed terribly.

Dear Jackie and families,
I was so shocked to learn of Paul's passing. I did not know until Sunday evening. Even then I could not believe it. Paul was such a dear and that smile could melt anyones heart. Even though I was a young girl of six, I remember when he was born, all the family were there that day. Even remember that they named him after Dr Fox, the doctor who delivered him. Reading all the accomplishments he made, tells what a wonderful person and man he became. He was a joy to be around. We all loved him and he will be sadly missed. My condolences, sympathy and prayers are with you all.
He and I were 1st cousins.

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the Polk and Gyr families during this time of sorrow and perspective. Paul was my freshman basketball coach at Linden and helped instill in me the confidence and assertiveness on the court that has helped carry me as an adult today as I am now a Deputy Sheriff. I caught up with him on his ranch a few months ago while patrolling the area and it felt good to thank him for being such a positive influence on me during my younger years. even when i wasn't shooting well during games, he always told me during timeouts..."just keep shooting!" His smile was obviously infectious and people like him are few and far between these days....

Paul was a friend! When i was pregnant with my first child , Paul would drive by my house and yell from his truck window "HOWS LITTLE PAUL " then when i had my son Dominic he called me at the hospital and wanted to know how little Paul was. Paul was my daughter Marissa's first basketball coach when she was in fourth grade. Paul was the best coach my daughter ever had and to this day i've never seen better! Your smile will be missed in our town of Linden but not forgotten ! your friends Laura , Eric , Dominic and Marissa Miller

I can't remember a conversation with Paul without laughter. He brought joy to all that knew him.

Jackie & all the kids,
It saddened me greatly when May called & told me that Paul had passed away. I so much want to be there but becasue of my job & my wife's health, I am unable to attend. I am trying to make arrangments to come out later in July. I hope to visit you when i get there. Let our belief in GOD guide us through these sad times. Paul was everything a brother should be, even though he still liked to pick on me. That's what made him my brother. I will miss him. See you soon.

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts, prayers and love of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
Mr. Polk ....I mean Paul; (He always insisted we call him by his first name) was kind and generous to our family. We were always happy to visit with him and peanut when he would drive by on the ranch road. All who knew him share your grief. Our family will pray for you, your family and friends; Because I believe that it is those that are left here on Earth that will need God's Grace to help ease the sorrow and pain in the days, months and years until we all meet again. I am sure Paul is Home now surrounded by only Love and Happiness . Our hearts are with you all.
