Rose Gattorna Obituary

Rose Matilda Gattorna

Mar. 23, 1910 - Jun. 22, 2018

Rose Matilda Gattorna passed away peacefully with family in Weiser, Idaho Friday, June 22, 2018, at the amazing age of 108. Born in Stockton, California on March 23, 1910 to Italian immigrant parents Picagia Luigi and Margherita (Mary) Rosa Gattorna, she grew up on the family farm just off of Pacific Avenue. As the city grew further north, the road to the farm was absorbed into its boundaries and when called upon for a name, her father combined his daughter's and wife's names to give the street the name it holds today: Rosemarie Lane. Rose reminisced fondly of the time she spent working in Stockton at Valley Laundry. Though she loved the city she was born into, when she grew elderly Rose left to live with family and spent the remainder of her years in Weiser, Idaho.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Frank and Andrew, her sister Flora Gattorna Gualco, her nieces Irene Gualco Rodacker, Florence Gualco Shields and Eleanor Gualco Robison, and one of her nephews, Floyd Gualco. She is survived by her nephew Sylvester Gualco of Weiser, Idaho, as well as many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who will all miss her kind and generous spirit and sweet soul.

A Funeral Mass was held June 29, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weiser, Idaho. Committal will be in Stockton at the San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery mausoleum rotunda on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00am.
