Ruben Chavez Arrieta
Stockton - Ruben Chavez Arrieta, 62, passed away on June 14, 2021, at his home in Stockton, California. He was a beloved member of the Good Shepherd Family Ministry for disabled adults and St. Andrews Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his companion of 20 years, Jacqueline Addison; his best friend, Leo Juarez; and his godmother Catherine Pauley.
He was born on May 14, 1959, in Pecos, Texas, to Jose and Viviana Arrieta. Family members who survive him are his sisters Viviana (Eli) Aranda and Sylvia (Ramon) Uribe of Coachella, California, Rosa (Tony) Orosco of Lathrop, California, and brother Efrain (Alma) Arrieta of Coachella. He is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Josie Espinoza and Amy Ceballos.
He was active in all the Good Shepherd Family activities, was a volunteer at St. Mary's Dining Hall and enjoyed walking with the Delta Tule Trekkers. He loved the 49ers, horses, cowboy hats and anything Native American. Ruben was known for his dance moves and singing karaoke. Ruben would call his godmother, Cathy, and ask her to pray for him every day.
Family and friends thank Hospice of San Joaquin and Divine Caregivers for taking care of Ruben during the last six months of his life.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 4910 Claremont Ave. in Stockton. He is being laid to rest in a private ceremony at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, next to where Jackie will also be buried.
