Virginia Carol (Spencer) Chance
April 16, 1921 - March 15, 2009
Virginia was born in Stockton, California, beloved wife of Albert for 59 years. She was the much loved mother of Kendra Bousfield (husband Ross and children Noni and Eryn); Robert Chance (wife Anna and children Matthew, Gregory and Elizabeth; Jerilyn Moore (husband Joseph and children Meghan, George, Riley and the late Joseph)
Virginia graduated from the College of the Pacific in February of 1943 and was an elementary teacher prior to beginning her family in 1950. After moving with Bert from Sacramento in 1957 to the hills of Montclair in Oakland, Virginia settled in to make many lovely friends in the area. She dedicated herself to her children through all of their activities including music and sport. She loved playing bridge, enjoyed the theater, gardening, bird watching and the many cats she had through the years.
In the sixties she began her volunteer career at Oakland's Children's Hospital. Through the Coral Branch, Virginia spent several days a week running the gift shop at the hospital. She only ceased working there in 2002 after receiving recognition for more than 30 years of volunteer service.
Virginia was a very gracious, positive person with a great sense of humor. After Bert's death, Virginia lived for four and a half years at Sunrise Assisted Living where she continued to charm all that knew her with her sweet disposition and easygoing personality. She will be very sadly missed by all her family and friends.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, March 29th, 2009 1:30 p.m. at Wilson & Kratzer Chapel of San Ramon Valley, 825 Hartz Way, Danville, CA. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 or Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Fl 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

Kendra, Jeri and Bob. Our love and thoughts are with you. Your mother was a wonderful person and she loved her family deeply.
The memories of the fun times I shared with your Mom will always be with me. She was my "buddy" for many years.
