I wanted to send you all of my heartfelt thanks and prayers for having a son that was willing to put his life on the line to protect his country and its people. Tonight we conducted a rememberance ceremony for Carlos and Amanda. My heart-felt sympathy and well wishes go the the Gonzalez family, his wife Kristina and his daughter Isabella. Your Soldier will never be forgotten and part of our duty as Soldiers, NCOs and Leaders is to make sure that they are always remembered for the heroes they truly are. I know that there are no words that can ever truly express your loss, but because of this forum and others like it I had the honor to get to know him through their words and I hope that his and Amanda's sacrifice helps remind my Soldiers to cherish their friendships and always tell their families and friends how much they love and care for them. I wish you all the best.

Dear Gonzalez Family,
I realize there is NOTHING that could be said to you that could ever ease the loss that your family has endured... I wouldn't even begin to try.
I simply felt the need to convey my deepest, heart felt condolences, to those that lived nearest me...
I SIMPLY HAD TO reach out to those that lived closest to me and let their families know that the sacrifice that their SONS & DAUGHTERS have made ARE NOT, and WILL NOT be forgotten, and were not made in vain!
We gladly add your beloved son to our prayers, along with ALL of our other fallen Sons & Daughters!

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Dear Anna, Carlos, and Family:
No words can make the pain, and suffering you have go away.
Know that you are not alone in your loss.
May your troubled heart
find peace and comfort in the knowledge that you are never alone.
May God's presence ease
your trembling spirit and give you rest.
He knows how you feel.
He is ever aware of your circumstances and ready to be your strength, your grace, and your peace.
He is there to cast sunlight
into all of your darkened shadows,
to send encouragement through the love of friends and family, and
to replace your weariness with new hope.
God is your stronghold,
and with Him as your guide,
you need never be afraid.
No circumstances can block His love.
No grief is too hard for Him to bear.
No task is too difficult
for Him to complete.
When what you are feeling
is simply too deep for words
and nothing anyone does or says
can provide you with the relief you need,
God understands.
He is your provider --
today, tomorrow, and always.
And He loves you.
Cast all of your cares on Him...
and believe.

Spc Carlos Gonzalez was a great friend, father, husband, and soldier. He touched each one of our lives in different ways. We would always joke with him about the time where he wrecked two different cars in the same day or the way he would make us laugh just by listening to him laugh. He was always there for me through good times and bad times. He has truely left a mark on my life and everyone else he came in contact with. I will always keep this fine young man and his family in my prayers. He will always be considered a brother to me and there won’t be a day that goes by where I won’t think about him. To the Family, Friends and Co-Workers of SPC Carlos Gonzalez;
Nothing I can say will make any of your pain go away, and for his loss I am trully sorry. I can say that as his NCOIC while we were together in Iraq, he made an indelable impression on anyone he met. His ability to work with anyone no matter how iritating they may be helped our Detachment come together as a unit. His ready smile and comical laugh kept all of us in good spirits during the deployment. I will always remember him as an loving family man, a great friend and an outstanding soldier. I consider myself luck to have known him and it was an honor to have served beside him.

To the family of SPC Gonzalez "Gonzo"
I served with "Gonzo" from the time he arrived at our company till his untimely passing. It was an honor, he took great pride in his duties as a soldier. He was eager to learn and always talked of how great his family is and how much they meant to him. His mom sent care packages that basically took care of the whole section and his spirit was one of of the things that kept morale high amongst his peers. Carlos was a credit to the 101st and not a day goes by where we don't remember what he meant to us. When things like this happen we with faith question someone with so much potential being taken from us so early. The void and the pain we have subsides slightly when we remember his laugh, his dedication to his family, his willingness to help his peers and superiors. It's little consolation for such a loss. I can only hope that his sacrifice and the sacrifice of others serves as notice to those who protect freedom worldwide. He lives in the heart of every soldier here especially our section who felt the loss dearest. For as long as we are assembled together it will always be a "missing" man formation. Our condolences for your loss which was much greater than ours. We lost a brother..... Your loss was so much greater than ours. He will not be forgotten, we won't let him be...For you and your families sacrifice I can only thank you, small words after such a sacrifice but I hope that you can heal and be able to take comfort in the fact that he brought such a zeal and happiness to others around him, and he helped supply the freedom that others take for granted daily. Thanks for your support of him being a good soldier and a great friend..
Respectfully

To the Family of Spc. Carlos M. Gonzalez;
It is my deepest sympathy to hear of the loss of your son, brother, husband, father and grandson.
I only knew of Carlos through the Any Soldiers support program. When I had sent out a package to his group (G6 Help Desk) I receive a heart felt letter back from Sgt. Tammy Darden. She gave me a little bio on each of the soldiers that I was supporting. This is what she wrote about Carlos. "He's married with a 2 year old daughter. He's from NY and is very proud of his Cuban heritage. He loves all music and watching romantic movies". When she informed me that she had lost one of her dear friends and soldier. I knew it was not only a loss for the troops, your family but also a loss for America. Thank you for sharing Carlos with us all. It is an honor to support him and all the soldiers fighting for freedom. He will be thought of often in our prayers now and forever. May God be with you in the difficult days ahead.

Carlos was a young man I will never forget. He touched our lives with his smile and sense of humor. I will always remember his gelled hair and "big" pants. He was an honorable man. Carlos made all the right choices in life. He was a tribute to his parents Carlos & Anna. Bella we will never let you forget your daddy. You all are in our prayers. Your friend, Joanne

I was so sorry and wanted to offer my condolences to this wonderful family, I have known for about 12 years. When I heard this tragic news, I could only think about the pain you are feeling because of this great loss.
I reflected back when I first met this family, as they purchased their home located in a beautiful neighborhood near Minisink Valley. I could see his two sons, my two daughters and several other children, running and playing together at the housewarming. My oldest daughter (Marissa) is the same age as Carlos Jr. and my second daughter (Monica) is the same age as Alex. I have a son (Justin) who will be 17 this July. I can only imagine how difficult this must has been for the two of you, Carlos and Anna, to have received the worst news a parent could hear.
There is obviously no good time or way for someone whom you love to die, and again I am sorry to hear that your son died in Iraq. I think back to the summer of 2005, when my brother passed away and how my much pain and emotion my parents went through. It’s so unfair to have to say goodbye to your child, due to death.
I have read in the newspaper and listened to tragedies as this, however, the impact of it all is not the same, until you hear about it happening to someone you know. I send the prayers of my family to your family Carlos, until I can convey my condolences in person. However, at the very least I want you to know Carlos & Anna, that I care and if there is anything I can do, just give me a call.
Sincerely,
Garland Ware

My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family. I also lost a loved one in Iraq in April 2005. Please accept my deepest sympathies and I know what you are going through. It does not get any easier, but my memories of my Joey will always be with me, just as Carlos will always be with the ones that loved him. Again, please accept my deepest condolences.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

To the Family of Spc. Carlos M. Gonzalez:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young man who gave his life so selflessly. We lost our son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. Our heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this horrible situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so sad and heartbroken at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. They will never be able to be replaced, but know they will NEVER be forgotten either - not by us, their commrades or by the thousands of people that sign these guestbooks and care about these fine men and women. Sometime, someday your memories will sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away. God Bless this courageous soldier and his family.
