Darrell McCosco Obituary

Liberty, NY

Darrell W. McCosco of Liberty, a retired heavy equipment operator for the Town of Liberty Highway Department and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, January 2, 2010 at his home. He was 58.

The son of the late Charles and Alice McCombs McCosco, he was born June 5, 1951 in Liberty.

Darrell proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War; he was an avid New York Mets and Washington Redskin fan.

In a family statement it was said, "He was loved by many and will be sadly missed."

Survivors include his wife, Debra L. Davison McCosco, at home; one son, Ryan D. McCosco of Liberty; one daughter, Jamie L. Greaves and her husband, Chris of Liberty; three brothers: Harley E. McCosco and his wife, Bonnie of Liberty, Richard E. McCosco of Triangle, VA, and Clifford F. McCosco of Rome, NY. Darrell was the proud grandfather of Brooklyn McCosco, Peyton McCosco and Ryder McCosco. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Barbara McCosco of Liberty, Kathy Simpson and her husband, Robert of Liberty, and Bonnie Tuttle and her husband, Wesley of Parksville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Davison of Liberty, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister-in-law, Joanne McCosco.

Visitation will be Monday, January 4, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 5, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with The Rev. Kit Robinson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery in Liberty.

Memorial contributions in Darrell's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 95 Schwenk Dr., Kingston, NY 12401.

Deb and family: Sorry I could not be there for you guys. Darrell and I were "growing-up" pals (along with Dave K., Harrison, Steve O, Steve P. etc.). When you lose a special person that you went through all those wonderful years with-it's shocking. I have nothing but great memories of my years with Darrell and I am sure I will see him again in a better place.
