Dennis Grater Obituary

Dennis Charles Grater, owner and operator of Touch of Class Auto in Highland for over 20 years and longtime resident of Highland, died Jan. 2, 2006 at home. He was 61.

The son of the late Charles Grater and Elizabeth Ryan, he was born August 17, 1944 in Brooklyn.

He married Cindy Miller on Dec. 29, 1979 in Kingston.

He was a member of Marlboro Yacht Club, St. Augustine RC Church, Highland. He enjoyed fishing, boating and was an avid racecar driver. He loved football, especially the NY Giants.

Survivors include his wife at home; one daughter, Erica Boyd and husband Ricky of Hyde Park; one son Justin Grater of Highland; two grandchildren, Alivia Grater and Alissa Boyd; two sisters, Elizabeth Notaro and husband Roy of Newburgh, Kathleen Grater Cafiero and husband Ralph of Sudbury, Mass; one brother, Lawrence Grater of Brooklyn; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Jan. 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main St., Highland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Sat. Jan 7 at St. Augustine RC Church, Highland.

Burial will be private.
