Edward J. Finkelstein

Edward J. Finkelstein of Ellenville, a lifelong resident and a retired postmaster from the Greenfield Park Post office, died May 23, 2007 in The North East Center for Special Care, Lake Katrine. He was 85.

The son of Sam and Evelyn Nemeroff Finkelstein, he was born December 6, 1921 in New York City.

He was the widower of Julia A. Matteisen Finkelstein.

He was a life member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion Cook-Taylor Post #111, Ellenville.

Edward served in the United States Navy during WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Cuban Conflict.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Helmholz and Donna Finkelstein; son, Steven Finkelstein; brother, Michael Farrell; grandchildren: Benjamin, Tina, and Wendy Avery, Shannon, Michael, and Kwintanna Finkelstein, and Alkeira Perrotti; great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Jr., Brandon, and Brent Avery, Michael and Joshua Finkelstein and Jake Perrotti; and one niece and one nephew. He is predeceased by a sister, Leonore Goldfinger.

Friends may call at Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., 79 N. Main Street, Ellenville today, May 25, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 26 at the Church of St. Mary and St. Andrew, 137 South Main Street, Ellenville. Burial will be in The Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.
