Frank Dushin Obituary

Frank Edward Dushin, of Cornwall-On-Hudson, passed away on January 20, 2007, after a prolonged illness.

Born on July 23, 1926, to the late Florence Elizabeth Hoffman and Harry Dushin, Frank was raised in Pleasantville, N.Y. He studied Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and then worked for the architectural firm of Edward Durell Stone in New York. He subsequently received a Fulbright Scholarship and taught Modern American Architecture at the University of Durham in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom. While in England, he married Leona Margaret Hauff, who now resides in Garrison, N.Y. Upon his return to the U.S. in 1954, he opened a private practice in Peekskill, N.Y., primarily focusing on custom contemporary residential architecture. Many of his homes were built in the Hudson Valley and metropolitan New York Area from the mid-1950's until just recently.

He is survived by his five children; Christine, Karl, Russell, Frederick and Margaret; and six grandchildren. Frank is survived by his ex-wife, his sister, Dorothy Dushin and was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Dushin.

Visiting hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at the Beecher Funeral Home, 418 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, N.Y. Services will be held at the same location on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 12 p.m. with internment to follow at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
