Frank Jenkins Obituary

Frank Michael Jenkins
May 10, 1967 - May 16, 2021
Newburgh, NY & Astoria, NY
Frank Michael Jenkins of Newburgh, NY and Astoria, NY passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh on May 16, 2021. He was 54. He was born May 10, 1967 in Newburgh, the beloved first born son of Teresa Jenkins and the late Arthur Jenkins.
Frank graduated from Newburgh Free Academy then attended Lewis University in Romeoville, IL where he earned his Bachelor's in Business Administration. Frank attended Long Island University in NY where he earned his Master's in Science. Frank then attended St. John's University in NY where he earned his Juris Doctorate in Law. Finally Frank attended George Mason University where he was close to earning his PhD in Computational Biology.
Besides being inspired by learning, Frank thrived in several careers. He found success in Corporate Sales in the 1990s. Frank then developed the passion to study Law. Upon getting his law degree from St. John's, Frank practiced Real Estate Law for several years. He then found a yearning for medical research. The desire to be instrumental in curing deadly diseases led Frank to pursue his PhD and he worked in Bioinformatics at the Feinstein Institute of Medical Research in Manhasset, NY.
Frank was a U.S. Army, 7th Signal Battalion veteran and proudly served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Frank was an avid weight lifter and enjoyed mixed martial arts and all types of fitness. He enjoyed helping people. There were countless times Frank selflessly donated his legal services to family, friends and sometimes complete strangers. Frank would be the first one to help a friend or family member in need however he could. Frank enjoyed discussing the subjects he studied and his many life experiences. There were few conversations you would have with Frank without learning something new about the world!
Frank adored his family, especially his niece and nephew who he loved encouraging and talking to about education.
Surviving are Frank's mother, Teresa Jenkins of Newburgh; brothers, John Jenkins of Milford, CT and David Jenkins of New Windsor, NY; his beloved niece and Goddaughter, Lilah, nephew, Joey; and several aunts, uncles and cousins both in Naples, Italy and Tampa, FL.
Frank was predeceased by his sister, Glenda Jenkins and his Father, Arthur Jenkins.
Friends may visit from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 23 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 24 at Sacred Heart Church, 301 Ann St., Newburgh, NY, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.

My condolences to Frank's family and friends. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Frank was in the classes I taught at George Mason University Fall 2019 and Spring 2021. I remember him as an excellent student with a great attitude who contributed to class and our PhD program in positive ways.
