Georgios Astras Obituary

Chester, NY

Georgios Kostantinos Astras of Chester, NY and former resident of Monticello, NY, a retired Carpenter and a resident of the area since 1976, died December 3, 2008 at Kindred Hospital in Wayne, NJ. He was 79 years of age.

The son of the late Kostantinos and Maria Tunda Astras, he was born in Athens, Greece on January 1, 1929. He married Alexandra Mitsigiorgi on July 20, 1958 in Greece.

Dad was a devoted husband and a caring and warm father, who simply put his family first and foremost in every aspect of his daily life; he will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Alexandra Astras at home, and their children Kostantinos and his wife, Burdell of Monticello, NY, Zackary and his wife, Kerry of Monticello and Marlos Astras and his wife, Dina of Chester, NY; his beloved grandchildren: Bryan, Alexandra, Georgios, Alexandra, Maria, Zackary, Alma & Georgina, along with his great grandchild, Anastasia also survive him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7, during the hours of 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 8, at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 2250 Goshen Turnpike, Middletown, NY 10941 (telephone: 845-695-1976) at 10 a.m. with Rev. Father Chris Talleos officiating.

Burial will follow at Wallkill Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
