Israel Eckstein Obituary

Ellenville, NY

Israel "Izzy" Eckstein, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, father-in-law, uncle and friend, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 at his home in Ellenville, NY.

Israel was married for 55 years to Sylvia whom he cherished. He was a member of the Masons, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Jewish War Veterans and The American Legion. He was a member of the Congregation Ezrath Israel in Ellenville, and also served on the Board of Directors. Israel was also known for being very skilled with his hands.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Eckstein; their two very special sons, Dr. Paul E. Eckstein and his wife, Ava and Dr. Howard M. Eckstein and his wife, Stefanie; and his beautiful grandchildren: Jacob, Nicole and Noah. Israel is also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, their children and their grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Diamond, and she is survived by her daughter, Arlene and grandson, Joey; her son, Paul Neal & his wife, Bonnie; daughters, Gabriella and Stephanie and son-in-law, Jason.

He was respected and loved by his family and many friends. We will all miss him, but we are confident that he will live forever in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, October 28, at 11 a.m. at the Congregation Ezrath Israel Synagogue, Center Street in Ellenville with Rabbi Moshe Frank officiating. Burial will follow at the Congregation Ezrath Isarel Cemetery in Wawarsing.

Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Ezrath Israel in Ellenville.
