Jamie Taylor McDonough, age 28, passed away peacefully the morning of Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Westchester Medical Center, after a long courageous battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Her mother Leilani Alii McDonough and grandfather Jim McKillip were at her side, holding her hand.
Jamie was born May 21, 1992 in Poughkeepsie, NY at Vassar Brothers Medical Center to John B. McDonough and Leilani Alii McDonough in her true fashion of keeping everyone awake until 1:54 a.m.
Jamie's family and friends can attest to the fact that she fought her illness in the most brave, dignified and strong-minded manner which was truly the hallmark of her personality. She was a unique and special person that is being lauded by many as a kind and caring beautiful young woman both inside and out with the most infectious smile. She had many accomplishments throughout life, but her biggest accomplishments were being a devoted and loving mother to her precious boys, Channing and Cyrus.
Jamie graduated from Wallkill High School and continued her education at Florida Medical Prep. She was a trained phlebotomist and was employed at several area Hospitals and Urgent Care Centers throughout her phlebotomy career. Jamie's last place of employment before becoming ill was at the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Wappingers, NY. She was a direct support professional working with people with intellectual disabilities. Jamie has always said how much she loved working with her residents. She took great pride in this area of work. Jamie loved all animals and always managed to bring home "stray" kittens and shelter bound puppies.
Jamie is survived by her parents, mother Leilani Alii McDonough, father John B. McDonough and wife Teresa, stepmother Jaqueline McDonough; her children Channing and Cyrus Davis and their father Raymar Davis; her brother Johnny McDonough Jr; her sisters Ciara McDonough, Alyssa Foti and Danielle Foti; grandparents Brenda McKillop, John and Joanne McDonough, Jim McKillop and Ann Hardiman; her step great-grandmother Joan Brubaker; her favorite uncle Chris McDonough and wife Monica; her loving aunts Amber McKillop and Marlo McKillop; her cousins Christopher McDonough and Camden McDounough; her great aunts Kathy Corrado, Barbara Ponesse, Lynda Leach and husband Larry, Karen Cox and husband Robert, Carol Gray and husband David, Bobette Cousins and her Solos, Lisa Benjamin and husband John, Joyce Fugazzi and husband Gino, and Rose Chandless; her great great aunt Marie Christiana; and many other second cousins family and friends.
Jamie was predeceased by her sweet baby girl Cianni Alii; great-grandmother Beverly "Boots" Dick; great-grandfather Clifton W. Dick; and her great uncle John Corrado.
Family, friends and other whose lives Jamie has touched are invited to Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 20. A Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 21 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Plattekill.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to her sons, Channing Davis and Cyrus Davis, for their future.
