June Keith Obituary
June Keith ended her 71-year journey from COPD complications, with her family by her side on Friday, March 28, 2008 at St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, NY.
She is survived by three daughters: Kim Ambar of Warwick, NY, Kelley Crittenden of Phoenix, AZ, and a surrogate daughter, Ruth Bowles of Warwick, NY; grandchildren, Matthew Graybiel of Southlake, TX and Ariel Ambar of Warwick, NY; grandson, John Wilson Graybiel, who will make his debut on earth this July; sisters, Linda Holmes of Ashland City, TN and Toddy Ransom of Cannelton, IN; many nieces and nephews; her beloved canine companions, Pebbles and Sugar; and many dear friends from Warwick and Tampa Bay area.
She was born in Monroe, LA and lived in Shreveport, LA, Pirmasens, Germany, southern CA, Fairbanks, AK, Grand Saline, TX, New Hyde Park, NY, New Brunswick, NJ, Tampa Bay, FL, and Warwick, NY.
June worked for Senator Bob Barlett in Fairbanks, modeled in Fairbanks and Shreveport, owned a gift shop, an employment agency, a dress shop, and a restaurant. June also worked for Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, Innisbrook Resort in Tarpon Springs, FL, and retired from Pinellas County, FL, where she was a bridge tender on the Honeymoon Island Bridge in Dunedin.
June was a member of American Business Women's Association (Shreveport-Bossier Council), Chairwoman of March of Dimes (N. LA Chapter), first female instructor of Dale Carnegie Corporate Training, Dorothy Carnegie instructor, and a member of Eastern Star (Texas Jurisdiction). She was a non-denominational interfaith minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church who studied spiritualism with Sri Chinmoy.
June is known in Warwick for the creative pet pads she made, her tarot readings at street fairs, and beautiful photographs of dogs, sky/landscapes, and wildlife. She will always be remembered as a good soul with a kind heart, her soft lilting southern accent, her feisty character, and quick wit.
Per June's wishes, her body was donated to medical science to Anatomy Gifts Registry in Glen Burnie, MD. A potluck picnic celebration of her life (with dogs present) will be held at Warwick County Park (off Rte. 17A) - date and time to be determined depending upon warmer weather.

Dear "Mather", Reading all the wonderful things people from everywhere have said about you makes me very proud to be your daughter. I hope I have half as much spunk, courage, humor and zest for life, as you did. I definately inherited your love of dogs (and cats), but don't know if I can make the dog treats with raw liver. If I promise to only feed them organic treats, does that count? I hope so and I hope you know how much I love you and how much I miss you!

I am going to miss you like crazy. I know you are up in Heaven looking down on us but that you are also having a ball up there.
I cannot wait to tell your Great Grand Son about some of the fun times we had together; riding in that Cadillac, playing Kings on the Corner, camping trips and so many other things.

I was lucky to know and be loved by June becauseof my friend Celeste. June always wanted everyone to get along. I know she taught me alot of valuable lessons and will continue to do so. I miss her in here so much. Ah, the Rev rest with one eye on us all.

Knowing you these past years, yes you were like a surrogate mom and yep, cool too. You opened my eyes to so many things. I might need a refresher but you taught me kings in the corner and I lost money to Ariel that I think I owe her a college education.
I am still meeting people now 2 weeks later, who you touched only a short time and yet made a huge impact in their life that they miss you. I know you'll last forever in my heart.
My mom didn't know you long either but she misses you terribly too.
I will make your doggie treats and I might even attempt the liver too (ewww). I'll keep an eye out for your babies.

To Commander...
She was one of the coolest ladies anyone could have, to hang out with, and easy to talk to...like a 2nd mom, when we were growing up in Shreveport. She let us (all of our friends)stay over anytime,and even let us keep our band equipment setup in the backroom of her house!!, so we could practice anytime...and never complained about the loudness, now that is sweet!...lol...its no wonder Kims house was the number one place to hang out back in the day. I have soooo many great memories, from hanging out over there...she (and Kim) will always have a place in my heart, and I'm glad shes has moved on to a greater place...we'll see her again!

June was a lovely and wonderful lady. I worked with her at the Pinellas County Highway Dept. I will never ever forget the funtimes we shared. I still have photos that June took of me at Phillipe Park. She was a blessing to so many people. I am sure the family has many seize moments with June that they will never ever forget. You have always been a special spirit filled with so much life and spunk.
I loved all your stories whether on the bridge or at Mosquito Control. My favorite thing was hearing you and Frank laughing until you both cried.
I still have the picture you took of Carly's whiteboard message that reminds me to keep close to those you love and put them first.
I know we were all sad when you left us here in Clearwater to go to NY, but I am glad you were able to spend the time you wanted with Ariel and Kim.

I know June has touched all of our lives in many different ways. In my childhood years June was like a mother to me. In adolecence, a sister; as years went by, we were also close friends.
