Lillian Swanson Obituary

Lillian M. Swanson of the Town of Newburgh, died on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh after a short illness. She was 76.

She was born on November 10, 1930 in Amenia, N.Y., to Charles and Elsie Platt Wilkinson. She was the widow of Kenneth G. Swanson.

Lillian and her husband, owned and operated the Quassaick Delicatessen in New Windsor for many years. Lillian subsequently managed a Perkins Pancake House in Vails Gate, served as an office manager for dermatologist Dr. Allyn in New Windsor. Her final position was at the Storm King Art Center where she left many good friends.

Lillian wore several hats and left her family and friends with many wonderful memories to hold and cherish.

Survivors include her sons, Kenneth G. Swanson, II of Cranston, R.I., and Karl S. Swanson of Newburgh; the "loves of her life", grandchildren, Michelle and Kevin Swanson of the Town of Newburgh; devoted sister, Evelyn Brewer with whom she made her home; brother, Everett Wilkinson of Cornwall and wife, Margaret; sisters, Lucille Wilson, and Beatrice Abernathy of Kingsport, Tenn.; brothers, Charles Wilkinson and wife, Ezora of Dover Plains, N.Y., and Walter Wilkinson of Live Oak, Fla. Also surviving is her special niece, Jill Brewer who loved her "Mizz Molly", and 24 additional nieces and nephews who all loved their "Aunt Lil".

She was predeceased by her brother, Ellsworth Wilkinson.

Funeral services will be held at the Coloni Funeral Home, 3001 Rt. 9W, New Windsor, on Wednesday, April 25, at 11 a.m. Cremation and interment of her ashes in the Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
